My engine has stalled. Ok maybe not my engine but certainly my weight loss. I am three weeks post surgery and this is my first stall with weight loss. I have been stuck for four days and am curious when these occur, how long might I expect before my body wakes up and says, oh yeah, I am on a mission to lose weight and start do just that? I have increased my Water and exercise so I am now open to thoughts. No I have not called my physicians office, I figure they have far more important things to do than answer such questions.

I have two kids.....wishing I could do more with them. I've struggled with my weight my entire life. I use to tell myself, "I'm chunky but healthy!" "I'm not going to be one of those people that counts calories and eats like a bird. I'm gonna eat what I want, when I want!" But what I didn't see was that I was not living. I was not enjoying life and all it offers.....especially being more active with my kids. My BMI is not as high as others.....it's 37.5. And I had a few people say, "you're not fat! You don't need surgery!" But when you've tried everything and its been a daily struggle ever since you can remember and it interferes with your life as a mother........you do need it! You need it for YOU! For your kids! To live longer, live healthier! I'm very happy to say that I began this journey 2 months ago and just this past week, I was approved for surgery! It still feels surreal. I'm scheduled for September 20th. I'm blessed to have supportive people in my life. Very happy I found this forum.

I am very similiar to you! I have 3 kids and at my heaviest was right around 200lbs...yeah I may not be 3,4,500 lbs but I was unable to keep up with my kids and food was always my go to! Keep up the good work..we are losing at right about the same time as well..I have lost 21 lbs and was sleeved on 16 Sept ! Kepp strong my sleeve sister!! :D

Hormones. I see a Wellness doc here in Las Vegas that does a full work up of my blood and educated me on how hormones affect our weight gain and loss. I just found out today that I must ensure I only take in healthy fats. I was using a dab of butter and that could have something to so with my slower weight loss.:-/. He told me to only cook with grape seed oil. Needless to say...I'm off to buy some. Crazy huh? I've also learned before a big loss the body hold onto Water. I wish you the BEST !!!

My doctor gave me liquid Zantac to take twice a day as a preventive measure. I have not had trouble' date=' still taking as prescibed. He said He did not want me to have any type of ulcers in my new smaller stomach. Is anyone else still crushing meds 4 weeks after surgery? My BP meds are so bitter, trying anything to make them more palatable. I think I have another month to go of the crushing them....YUCK![/quote']

My doc had me taking pills the day I left the hospital and I have had no issues what so ever.

I had the same problem last week and after 5 days I weighed in and lost a whopping 5 lbs! Everyone told me this is normal. My surgical date was 9/24/13

You are 3 weeks out and you should be taking in Protein, protein, protein. As shakes and plain Protein Powder in your broths and Soups. Protein is very necessary for your body to heal your small stomach and protein keeps you fuller longer. I had a stall for a week and up my protein and I'm losing again. Be sure your taking your Vitamins every day.

Good luck to you

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone else is having acid reflux/heartburn since having surgery? I did not experience this until after having the surgery. Anyone have any advice, I'm living on Prevacid AC now :(

Try the GASX strips! They are wonderful!!!!

I got my sleeve in sep20. Here I am oct 21 and I have only lost 20. Feeling kind of frustrated

I was sleeved 9/19 and I have lost 21 lbs. I am content with that. I do not want to lose too quickly (excess skin). Slow and steady is good for me.

Good luck to you!

That is great! My surgery was 9/24 and so far I've only dropped 15 lbs. I've been locked at the same weight for four days now and am really frustrated.

It is okay I was sleeved on the 26th I am down 14# I decided I'm okay with being a slow looser! My general doctor only wants me to loose 4-5 lbs a week to make sure I do it safely. Keep up the good work!!!!????

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
