So my hair is falling out a lot. See the pic, that's just from brushing it last night. Any suggestions? Is this normal??

I am waiting for a surgery date and have looked up every side effect and complication so I am prepared. I did come up with a lot of information about hair loss and most said it was temporary due to an accelerated life cycle of your hair.< /p>

here is where I received most of the information:

I was told to drink Isopure which is a Protein drink that has 40 grams of Protein in that. It's expensive for one bottle (around $5) but the nurse told me that was the easiest way to get my protein in.

I had surgery on April 15, 2013. I always get at least 80 grams of Protein and I take all my Vitamins including 5000 Biotin for hair. I drink all my liquids and follow the diet I was given pretty well. About three weeks ago my hair started falling out. My surgeon said it shouldn't fall out for sleeves but here we are. I knew going into this it was a possibility and I thought thin and healthy and bald was better than fat with good hair, but I'm having a hard time accepting this. When you go through trauma, hair can fall out. Last week my scalp got sunburned on vacation! My friends who've had sleeve and RNY all say it will grow back. I'm praying for it to be soon!

I was about the same unfortunately it didn't matter that I was getting all my Protein, Biotin and fish oil capsules in! LOL I still lost A LOT of hair, but it will grow back.. I'm 8 months out and I'm happy to see regrowth, I have a bunch of baby hairs all over my head lol

There are a number of things you can take or use to try and help minimize the effects, but it's a crap shoot. It may happen no matter what you do. It does grows back. Just get your Protein in for a speedy recovery.

I was about 3 months out before mine began falling out. I ended up having to get it cut shorter....I have layered VERY curly hair and because of the layers it looked like I had a rat-tail in the back!!!! I am a year out now and things are back to normal as far as Hair growth and the amount of Hair loss each day. I am not happy that my hair is so short...but only 6 months growth and it looks fine...just not what I like!!!!! Do everything that you know you should do. Remember that very "side effect" is different for everyone. Enjoy the journey....you will love it more each day!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
