  2. You will get varying answers from different doctors, patients, web sites, etc. The important thing is to follow YOUR post-op guidelines for introducing foods.....that is what YOUR surgeon feels is best for proper healing with minimal possibility of problems.
  3. I was about 3 months out before mine began falling out. I ended up having to get it cut shorter....I have layered VERY curly hair and because of the layers it looked like I had a rat-tail in the back!!!! I am a year out now and things are back to normal as far as hair growth and the amount of hair loss each day. I am not happy that my hair is so short...but only 6 months growth and it looks fine...just not what I like!!!!! Do everything that you know you should do. Remember that very "side effect" is different for everyone. Enjoy the journey....you will love it more each day!
  4. I'm with enigmachik...I was sleeved on July 3rd and have lost 45lbs. I also haven't really gone down a clothing size either. I did buy a pair of jeans a size smaller that I've worn. They are very stretchy....that's why I think they fit. I'm trying to look at the big picture....I'm down and that's what matters. Although it is very hard to do when there are others that have lost sooooo much more.

  6. Hang in there. Do what is best for you and the rest will follow. I have to tell myself that every day.
  7. My parents will be visiting this weekend.....I can't wait to see what they have to say. Mom was with me in July for surgery but I haven't seen her since. I haven't seen my dad since April.
  8. I am 8 weeks out and had rice for the first time this week. It was plain rice with beef in a sauce over it (I made it....not take out). Not sure if this helps....don't know if your doc meant true sticky rice or not. Plain rice can be "sticky" also...that's why I made sure I had plenty of sauce to mix with the rice I had. Hope this helps a little. And it was just a touch of rice....but it is what I made for dinner.
  9. I was sleeved July 3rd and have had no real issues. Over the last few days I have had what feels like a knot in my stomach. I haven't been eating as much or drinking as much because it hurts. I thought it could be stress....just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I haven't taken gas-x or anything because this is day 3. I honestly thought it was something fluky and I would feel better by now. About to take gas-x and see if it helps. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!
  10. Hi! I teach in Georgia. I only told the school counselor (she is in the class next to me) and we're pretty close. I didn't tell my other friends at work because they are older and have expressed negative comments during general discussions. I decided that this is for me. If it comes up I may talk about it but if it doesn't then I won't. My family knows and my best friend.....the main people in my life and they are my support. I was sleeved July 3rd and am down 20 lbs since June 22.
  11. Thanks so much! This is what I'm working on and you guys confirmed what I'm doing. (or will be) trying to space things evenly!
  12. I'm really trying to get protein in.....what is your typical day's menu look like? I'm a teacher and go back to work August 1st. I'm really trying to get an idea of what a normal day looks like for people. I'm a planner and over think....any help or suggestions would be great!
  13. Everyone will say everyone is different. I am 7 days out and could go back to work at a desk job no problem. I drove 2 1/2 hours to my daughter's doc appt today, then spent 4 hours at the mall (she's 17), and then drove 2 1/2 hours home. Yes I'm tired...but no more than I would have been before surgery. I'm a teacher so I have until August 1st to go back to work.
  14. This happens to me as well. Usually the first few bites results in my belching once or twice and then I'm good with the rest.
  15. Sleeved July 3rd....hardly any pain. I did use the pain pump about 3 times after surgery - more to sleep than for pain. The main pain has been gas pain not actual surgery pain. It did feel like I had done a few sit-ups but not horrible. Like the 3rd or 4th day after a good work out.
  16. I love this blog!!!!!!!
