CGJane u sound conflicted. From what little I get from you you'll settle things down in your mind when your able to be as active as your used to. How long ago was your surgery? Your mind and body may still be settling down from that major change. Keep pushing. Georgia 60 in a few days!! Milestone birthday. Hey 60 is the new 40 (LOL) and your as young or old as you feel. I spend NYE in church singing. And reflecting. Its really a fun time. Well everyone Stay safe and looking forward to buckling down

Brown, we saw The Hobbit and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the pop corn! I love going to the cinema.

Sheila, yey to the wedding - have a great time and dance the night away. Have a cider for me.

Jane, when was your surgery again, about 8 weeks ago? I really wouldn't of been able to ski when I was 8 weeks. My tummy still swells now, not like it did in the beginning but it does swell!

Georgia - super duper skinny at sixty... that is amazeballs!

Cathy, you are such a good woman... you will reach that goal and fingers crossed hubby - and the rest of your family - will have better 'luck' this coming year.

Globe, I am thinking of you m'love!

How;s the house Dee... any news?

And everyone else... don't want to do a list in case I forget someone and I don't want to do that! ( I need to write a list of names...lol) Have a Happy New Year, let us hope it brings good luck and good news... we will keep on keeping on...

Kim, how I'd your Dad?

Kris' latest update on her nightmare plastics. BTW, I never had this leakage and since I follow Dr Sauceda patients on Facebook, I can assure you this is not a typical event. I don't know how to reply.

Went out early with my son and my friend Mary. A drink and then dinner. Kiddo and I rented a movie which I slept through...Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Thanks all, I talked to him when he got out of surgery and he sounded pretty good, but he has had some many surgeries in the last 5 years, and 86 years old! Hes keeping them busy in the old OR.

Kim I'm glad your dad made it through the surgery.......

Most have done well on staying focused on their fasting days, the ones that haven't, will succeed next time. I am one that messed up and I will have a fast day tomorrow. Got to detox from the carbs... LOL

Hope everyone is having a blessed day today to start the New Year!

Happy 2014!

Georgia, I can't believe you are going to be 60! You don't look like it at all. Your face is beautiful...where are the wrinkles??? Happy Birthday one day early!

Sheila, how was the wedding? I'm looking forward to seeing pictures...

Kim, glad your dad is ok.

Cathy, hope 2014 brings about good things for you and your husband. Hopefully he will find a job quickly and you won't have to move. So many stressful things, try to stay positive. We are here for you.

SherylJane, maybe it's just not the right time to try dating? I don't know...I think I would sometimes feel like it's just too much work if I were in your shoes. You are a strong, confident woman and you need a guy that can handle that. A lot of guys can't. About the meds, I think it's a good idea to try them. Sounds like you have done a lot of other things to handle the stress and maybe the meds will help. If there is a chemical imbalance then the meds will help where other interventions won't.

Coops, glad you had a nice time at the movie. I used to LOVE movie popcorn. Since I've been sleeved it doesn't taste very good to me anymore. I still love popcorn but my favorite is called Skinny Pop and I eat a little every night. I'm thankful for the few foods that my sleeve doesn't agree with because there are so many that I don't have any problem with!:) Hope things are ok with you and your hubby now.

I decided I was going to fast today even if it killed me. I'm still here and it's 7 pm, and I have had 400 calories, so I think I'll make it. It's not even that I'm hungry, it's just that I want to eat the junk because it's good. Carb monster at it's finest! I know I will be better next week after I get my fast days in and the carb monster will be gone.

I think it's stupid that my boys have to go back to school tomorrow. I think they should have off for 2 more days. Why send them back on a Thursday?? I thought about just keeping them home but then they will end up with a lot of extra work come Monday.

We have gotten a ton of snow here since last night. I'm so ready for winter to be over and we have quite a while to go yet. Thankfully the hubs and my 2 boys take care of the shoveling.

Back to reality tomorrow...

Hello all,

Georgia, my daugter had this huge 60th surprise party for me. I hate surprises. I knew about it though because my son had left his face book page open. So I guess I am only a year older than you.

I had a blast on New Years Eve , I went out with a friend of mine where a live band was playing and danced all night. I had these 2 guys arguing over who was going to dance with me. Total losers, both of them, but fun to dance with.

My ex's daughter was over and she was telling me that her dad has a new gf. It's just amazing to me that he lived with me for 2.5 years up until 2 months ago and he's already got somebody spending the weekends with him and introducing as his new girl friend. Nice to know I was so easily replaced.

Thank God for 5:2. If I still felt fat and could not wear my clothes, I'd be really depressed. Now I am hopeful that I am actually going to find a better man.

Well, I had a lovely new year with fab friends, too much to eat and drink and the scales have not been good today. I was 7lb away from my personal goal but now it is 11. I'm not too disappointed as I have had a full on eating/drinking period over the holidays.

I have already done my exercise and I am meeting 2 friends for lunch, I have decided to have vegetable Soup and not look at the rest of the menu. I need to detox all those bad carbs.

I hope everyone is well and having a good day.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
