I quit traditional cigarettes a year ago before I had surgery on my sinuses. The only way I was able to do that was by using an electronic cigarette. I was pretty proud of myself for getting rid of all the nasty extras that are in cigarettes. But my sleeve surgeon doesn't see it that way. She said that I had to be off nicotine or she wouldn't do the surgery. So I tapered down to 0mg in my e-cig (I was not a very pleasant person for several days). After my surgery (7/25/13)' date=' I asked my surgeon how long I had to stay off nicotine. She lectured me and said I should stay off. But I'm stubborn and I like my nicotine. She said it hinders healing, so I should wait until everything is all healed up. About 2 weeks. I am eagerly waiting for that time.

For anyone trying to quit smoking, I highly recommend investing in an electronic cigarette. And not the kind you can buy from Walgreens. Here is a picture of mine.

It is the most wonderful thing ever.[/quote']

What brand of e-cig is that? Where do you get them?

I quit a few months prior to my VSG and was smoke free for about a year and a half after that but started back up again. I've tried a few times but haven't had any luck, maybe I'll try those e-cigarettes and see how that is.

I see that you are willing to accept the health risks. That's your choice. For me, even if I could accept the risk of cancer, ulcers or damaged cells I would never use anything that is notorious for causing munchies. Not now.

Well, I have to say this wasn't the post op conversation I was looking for, or expected but I suppose it's interesting. My Doc told me I had to quit smoking before surgery, so I did. Boom. Done. Mind over matter. I want to be healthy more than I want to smoke. Plus, it saves me about $275.00 a month, which is about $3,300.00 a year. I'll take it!

If I have to quit soda forever, I'm pretty sure that cigarettes are a no-no. And I won't comment on the other.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
