Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

  • Popular Post

I finally have my surgery date (8/14) and I am beyond excited. Looking for some sleeve buddies to go through this process with. I have been making changes already and so far so good. I have increased my activity level and stopped drinking Diet Dr Pepper, which was a huge change for me. What is everyone else doing to prepare? Does anyone who is post op have any helpful tips for things to have on hand after surgery?

Well today is another day and I am still full of gas taking gas-x to help it move slowly. I don't have a way to measure my water intake and a couple small spoon fulls of oatmeal' date=' applesauce, and a premier protein shake. I have walked up and down my block once and can't do anymore because no one is here to go with me. I have been using my heating pad to help to move the gas around. I am already thinking what have I done. But what I know deep in my heart is troubles don't last always!!!![/quote']

Maybe scaling back to full liquids only for a little bit until you get past this might help?? Hope you're feeling better soon!

Every doctor is different' date=' even different doctors in the same practice. My surgeon's post-op plan is stricter than most & I was on clear liquids only for the first week post-op. I'm now in the next phase of clear liquids & 3 protein shakes a day for 3 weeks. Then it is on to pureed foods for two weeks, then soft foods for the next two weeks. At week 9 I get to introduce solid foods.[/quote']

I get to introduce solid foods at 6 weeks but only soft foods that can be cut with a fork. Then it'sa gradually process of introducing foods and seeing how I react. Have just found out that pureed tuna mayonnaise is not one of the foods I can tolerate yet.

Sleeved 27th Aug feeling great. I'm just able to take in more. Cause I wasn't able to drink or intake pudding. Gonna do yogurt later. No pain since Friday night and gas thanks god for 2x a day zantac

Tuna mayo with mash and veg tonight! Am so happy to finally be past the liquid stage! Still had a latte for breakfast though. Have never been a breakfast person. :-)

Bit of porridge with mashed banana for me, think i, m gonna need the energy when I return to work:-/

That sounds nice. I'm not allowed porridge yet but can try it with readybrek.

Why are you not allowed porridge oats? They are the same as readybreak, my diet sheet on purree says really runny wheatabix porridge or readybreak for Breakfast, all these different diets lol !

Today has been the best day yet since surgery 8/29 :) went for a short walk this morn, a walk around the grocery story with my best friend to help her ( which oddly barely bothered me at all!!)

And then a 40 min walk back and forth on my street..

. Able to extend the time between pain meds from the 4-6 hours on the bottle to about 7-9 hours between. Got in two full Protein shakes, a Popsicle, 8 oz of strained out cream of chicken mushroom Soup which was yummy and soothing.. And an additional 24 oz of Water....

Getting a bit more hydration each day :) less gas pressure and the milk in the cream soup and the Protein Shakes really seemed to lesson the acid reflux thing...

That's been the worst part for me... The pressure thing and the acid reflux... Never had a problem with either before surgery... Otherwise I actually feel pretty *normal* ... Had to remind myself to not dance around the house so much...Lol!

How's everyone else from last week feeling???

Maybe that's me getting it wrong.

I need some feedback. how long post op was anyone on liquid diet before they changed to soft or pureed foods? I noticed that some have that are already eating soft foods after a couple days.

Allowed soft once home from the hospital which for me was one day post op

Hang in there Mocha. It's worth it when the scale moves. Maybe going back to liquids for a few days will help?

2 weeks as of tomorrow today had 2 meatballs puree in mothers tomato sauce. It was like eating sloppy joe. Wasn't bad but watching the kids stuff the meatballs with linguini pissed me off lol. I used to eat 2 large platefuls with maybe 8 meatballs lol. So i have 4 spoon fools and my stomach was getting pissed chest started to hurt so i stopped.

All I have to say... Is praise God for whomever created those GasX strips... Wish I had tried them days ago.... Helps the stupid pressure thing SO MUCH!!!

And how are you faring Mocha??? Thinking of you!!

Hey embersfallen, I am doing well. The gas is gone and I am eating purred foods and drinking a lot more Water. I was having an issue with having a bm but thanks to milk of mag. everything seems to be good. I want to find out if I can go back to taking my Fiber everyday like I use and it kept me regular. That gas x is the best!!!

Surgery on 8/19, weight date of surgery 208, (lost 11 during 2 week diet), today's weight 196. Feeling pretty normal, focusing on H20, protein (mostly liquid form), and incorporating mooshy foods as I can. And supplements, just switched calcium from Sweet Indulgence (dark chocolate bar) to Bariatric advantage (6 chews a day). I chose raspberry and lemon).

Exercise is not as vigorous as I believe I should be. Been walking, but not vigorously. I've done weights a little :)

I was kept in the hospital for 2 nights and 3 days. When I got home from the hospital I Weighed 5 lbs more then when I went in. My blood pressure was out of control and nausea was terrible. I threw up one time at the hospital and felt so much better after that, it was the scariest thing I've experienced.

Tonight I'm going out with my husband and our church friends...looking forward to getting dolled up :)

Blessings to all! Wanted to share a little...
