Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

  • Popular Post

I finally have my surgery date (8/14) and I am beyond excited. Looking for some sleeve buddies to go through this process with. I have been making changes already and so far so good. I have increased my activity level and stopped drinking Diet Dr Pepper, which was a huge change for me. What is everyone else doing to prepare? Does anyone who is post op have any helpful tips for things to have on hand after surgery?

Re: Protein.

Has anyone tried skimmed milk? My surgeon's nurse practitioner said its good for getting protein in. I have a latte for breakfast daily and add milk powder to my soups. It's working for me...

Ugh I wish I could but it has too much sugar in it per serving... So I use almond milk.

I had my first tea with skimmed milk today. My doc said I have to drink at least 100 ml of skimmed milk a day.

Basically no Protein in almond milk (1g). I'm not going to worry about sugar until i am able to get all your protein in using solid foods. My sugar is pretty good even with the skim milk. :)

Today is the day! Heading to the hospital now. Check in at 11' date=' surgery at 1. I'm.So scared. Prayers needed please! Thanks for all the support.[/quote']

Unfortunately I'm diabetic. So until I lose enough weight and my blood sugars are always at a good level... I have to worry about sugar content. I use almond milk in my Protein shakes and it makes them creamy. Doesn't add protein and it only adds 30 calories since I use the unsweetened kind.

Just got home from the hospital all went well I' date='m a little sore not to bad sleeve 11;30 on monday the 19th Doug from Michigan[/quote']

Hey Doug from Michigan...we are 3 days post-op. I am doing okay. How are you holding up?

I had my sleeve surgery 5 days ago. So far so good. Been having 30 ml of Clear liquids every 20 min and 1 L of Water everyday. Only fresh fruit and veg juices made at home so far. No vomiting or discomfort what so ever <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

You can do juices? Wow...I am on a low carb, high Protein liquid diet post-op 3days. What recipes are you doing?

I was told I could drink anything that can be sucked up through a straw. But not allowed to actually use a straw. So, have been having some gorgeous soups ( some which contain meat). Just blitz them in the food processor and off I go. :-)

I got a book of fresh juices recipes and bought a new juicer before the op. today I had 1 cup of Mixed Berries with apple and pineapple, 1 cup of vegi juice: cucumber, celery, spinach, parley and broccoli

I have been put on a low sugar high protein diet. I check in next Wednesday so maybe it'll be different. I dislike sugar free stuff...I just received my bottles of Genesis liquid protein 15g per 1oz...that's good enough for now.

I was told to watch my sugar...so no juicing for me just yet. I love veggies though.

Got home yesterday' date=' while in the hospital walked around and used the restroom by myself, and sat up for awhile. Worst pain is the incision where they pulled the stomach out of, it's on my left side. It's the only real pain I have which sucks. I just wish it didn't hurt so bad. In the hospital I ate pudding, and cream of wheat which I tolerated well. I didn't sleep well in the hospital so when I came home I crashed. Been up walking around, and sitting up.. Got maybe 40g of protein, and 20 or so oz of water, and a few bites of pudding. So I'm trying. I can wait to feel like myself again. But I'm alive ave can't wait to feel better and start losing weight![/quote']

Gia i go home tomorrow and the incision on my right side hurts so bad.

Yeah my incision is on my left side, if it wasn't for that I'd feel so much better. But I can Finally sleep on my stomach again and it doesn't hurt as much, it's just getting up and out of bed that sucks. -_-

First day post op and I can not tolerate ice chips....are these things making anyone else nauseous?

I'm 4 days post op and ice chips were the worst!! I didnt think i would get any liquids in fooling with the ice chips. Small sips of room temp water helped immensely. Best of luck to ya!
