Hi I am curious as to why everyone chose to do The sleeve now at this point in their lives. As for me, I have twins that are 20 months old. That is my number one reason. I need to be there with them, for them growing up. Enjoy playing with them, doing projects, just living a normal healthy lifestyle. Second reason is my health. I have asthma, sleep apnea, and a restrictive lung disease. If I don't get this weight off I won't be there for my kids. And then 3 rd is for myself. I want to feel good again, feel good about myself, what I wear, what I look like. It's been long enough.

I can't get pregnant and no doctor will even listen to me about fertility. They all say lose x pounds and come back then. I've been with my husband for 3 years and I am 28, I'm ready to have a family!!!

So this is why I had the surgery about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Can't wait to start trying. I have at least a year before that happens but it seems much more possible now!

Don't give up on having a baby I was 260 of so when I got pregnant with my twins. Doctors here never said a word about my weight. I had what they called unexplained infertility and I went they fertility treatment. I also had a friend that lost a lot of weight and got pregnant right away. So keep trying and good luck to you.

I chose surgery because I was tired of merely existing and wanted to live, feel good about myself and be able to enjoy life with my three kids. I was on blood pressure meds and cholesterol was getting out of control. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and I'm glad to be able to enjoy going to gym again even if it's only for 30 minutes, I can go to the park and play with my youngest child and not be out of breath.

I've been overweight all my life, but I've always been pretty healthy too. Now that I'm in my late 40s the co morbidities are starting to pop up. This year it's been sleep apnea, and more aches and pains than usual. I've dieted on my own, and under doctor supervision with no long term success. I decided I didn't want to spend the second half of my life waiting for the fat to kill me. The sleeve is the tool I need to help me be successful in winning this life long battle. I was sleeved on 6/26 and so far so good. I'm recuperating really well!

I don't want to get any older and be this weight - I feel like too much of life is passing me by! I've done a year's worth of research before deciding on the sleeve and I'm pretty excited (yet scared, of course) to get 'er done.

I decided to have the surgery because my health was starting to be effected. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and pre diabetes. I have been overweight and dieting all of my adult life and have lost and regained weight so much- I have an entire closet of clothing sizes 12-24. I want to live and enjoy being active with my 12 year old twins. I haven't been in shorts much less bathing suit in over 15 years- I want to get out and play. Can't wait to get a date :)

Hey I too have twins. They r three and my reason too. I developed some medical issues while pregnant with them and thought I wasn't even going to be around for them, that scared me. Since then I've been trying all I can and then I found out some coworkers had WLS done and I was like this may be an option. After extensive research I'm very comfortable and confident with this option. This forum is amazing too. I don't post as often as I'd like, but just reading others comments are wonderful. I wish u luck and congrats in the twins. They can be such a handful, but can't imagine it any other way :)

I've been over weight all my life. And I wanted a life after I lost my mother 6 years ago to morbid obesity.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
