I had Almanza. 4 months ago. He was great' date=' I felt safe the whole time, the staff was excellent, and I was never afraid of the surgical center vs. the hospital. Everything went very smoothly and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I had no issues at all after surgery and I think he did a great job. I have a sleeve that will tolerate anything I put in it and he must have stapled/sewn me up real good on the inside because this thing does not stretch and it does not hold much at all.

A lot of people seem to have doubts or reservations about Almanza, but from my perspective they are unfounded. You will most likely get some links to horror stories or someone will tell you that he is a 'dangerous man'. Not true and if you poke around enough you will find unpleasant stories about most any doctor - foreign or domestic.

It was fine and he will give you exactly what you ask for.[/quote']

Thank you for that. I am having my surgery with dr almanza at the jerulsium hospital. And was looking for reassurance, thanks

Keep looking. Do not go to dr almanza. He was one of the first doctors that I was considering and in my research I found more complications from his patients than any other...I just kept seeing them over and over. I also have a friend in one of the Facebook support groups that I am a member of that has had serious complications after her surgery with him. Personally I've read very good things about dr quinones...you should check him out.

Where I work, there has been a number of people who went to dr almana and have had no complications at all

Hi' date=' to clear things up.. when I had my surgery with Dr A. I never had any compltions, I felt safe and had a very good out come.. I just thought in a more traditional hospital setting. I would of received more one on one time.....it was just kind of small and cramped..[/quote']

Yes and my friends from Canada who went to dr. A had no complications what so ever.

Can anyone please tell me if Dr Almanza uses drains? And if so is that a common thing with other doctors?

I had surgery with Dr.A. In dec. It was ok. Not great. Very different, and chop shop sounds about right. Although I have not had complications thus far, I wish I would have done more research. Good luck.

Yes he did with my group. I am 2 yrs post op and have lost 100 lbs. With 40 to go. Every one heals differently. I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Almanza, his staff, or his clinic. My hope husband, who did not have the surgery was allowed to stay with me through it all, except in surgery, he slept with me in my recovery bed. The staff also helped him find a dentist for his toothache...had a root canal and gold cap in one afternoon and 650.00. They also provided him with meals while we were their. We felt very safe...you are never left alone. They were very compassionate and clean. I know about his negative reviews but I can say if you look at doctors in the USA, I am quite positive many of them will have the same. You must choose for yourself. I also knew some people who also had there surgery there. I would do it all over agsin without one bit of doubt.

I had my surgery with Dr. A. Yes it is different and yes it is small. I did not have any complications from surgery. Would I call it a "chop shop"? No, not the day I was there.

I had Dr A 2 years. ago and would do it again. The ones I seen have trouble were the ones bragging they went out the night before and ate and got drunk. Everyone of them had the heaves after. I followed all instructions and had no problems

The trip was amazing.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
