Seriously? Does everyone exercise?

Recommended Posts

Cindy is right. You must find something YOU enjoy doing. Exercise should not be a chore.

I love the following:

Bikram Yoga

Kundalini Yoga

Running

Weight lifting

Pilates

barre method

and my new thing I am going to begin once I hit 20 more lbs gone is Tai Kwan Do...I have always wanted to learn and my girlfriend just won the Louisiana State Championship last month...she is my motivation to try it. ^_^

What specifically do you hate about it? That may help you see what exactly gives you the negative outlook towards exercise and maybe there's a way to get around what you hate' date=' find something you like and thus be more motivated. Is it a public thing and you don't like being around other people while you do it? Is it because maybe you don't have much time due to a busy schedule and stress about finding time for it? Is it the actual physical exertion involved and you don't like or the sweating often involved? Is a combination of some of these or something entirely different? If you can, let us know what specifically you don't like about it and maybe there's something you can do to still get exercise in and not hate it.[/quote']

I hate everything about it!! Lol! I think what it comes down to is I am just lazy and would rather be doing other things. Not a good excuse huh? ;)

I walk... A lot. Sometimes many many miles a day. And if I don't walk I'll bike. But that's it. Unless I count getting my ass out of bed, I don't lift weights. Or unless I can count sitting indian style during reading circle I don't do yoga or unless I count doing the hokey pokey, I don't do Zumba either. And it's extremely very unlikely I ever will do anything other than walking and biking.

Walking and biking is something I see myself doing forever and so that's what I'm using to get healthy skinny

Do what you know you will be doing forever. Make it something.. But not nothing.

:D

Erm what is C25K?

It stands for couch to 5 kilometers (3 miles)

It's a running program where you build up weekly to being able to run.

I'm still on week one (three weeks later)

It's 30 minute of waking and running. The first week you walk for a minute and a half then run for 60 seconds then walk again and so on.

It's and app. And there is a thread here where a bunch of us are doing it.

I don't exercise to lose weight I exercise to gain health. You can lose weight without exercising, but just half hour a day of aerobic exercise will give you TONS of health benefits.

That's a perfectly good excuse and fairly typical. Give us a chance, maybe we can still help you find something for you to do and like. There's really no wrong exercise as long as you don't hurt yourself. So maybe it's just a matter of getting yourself going and getting to the gym, track aerobics room etc? Do you feel lethargic and just not want to get going? Maybe it's a timing thing.....perhaps finding when your most energetic time of day is and maybe exercising then?

I was fortunate to attend a fitness resort back in 2010 and found that there were all types of exercise that I had never tried before that I really liked. Specifically kickboxing was a new experience and I found hitting the bag very cathartic and healing for me. Other activities were interval training and circuit training, disco aerobics, hiking and so much more. I also loved dance classes as a teen and young adult, even folk or square dancing can be fun! Don't be afraid to try something wacky and different, and expect that you need to do it 3 - 4 times to judge if it is right for you.

Unfortunately for me, I developed Achilles tendonitis and it forced me to stop exercising, the weight I lost came back on plus. I'm hoping that my sleeve surgery will help me lose enough weight that I can get back to the activities that I love!

What about dancing? I used to do basic ballet. It helps with the posture and back muscles and leg muscles. I have also done beginner belly dancing (before my belly became a blob) and man does it work those abdominals! Both were great fun becuase the class was mostly older woman looking for a fun excercise, and we made fun of ourselves. Just a suggestion.

If you have an Xbox Kinect, the "Just dance" and such videos are SO much fun! I used to take Jazz dancing (11 years....not as limber anymore lol), and it's a lot like that and hip hop. Best part...nobody can see you doing it :P

I walk 2 miles a day 6 days a week with a friend. I have to walk with a friend, or I won't go. We start at 6 am now because it gets hot early.

I also work out twice a week with a personal trainer who comes to my house. Again, I need the other person for motivation or I won't do it.

I also ride my horse 6 days a week. I ride with a trainer every day right now, but will start riding on my own again in a couple weeks. I think riding is the only thing I will do without someone else there to push me! In fact, I'm looking forward to having him to myself again.

I find that having someone else relying on me (either for the pay or just for the company) is the best motivator to get out and do something. Otherwise it's just too easy to stay on the couch!

Find something you like to do, and someone to do it with!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
