Feeling awful! Still in hospital for at leased another day. Apparently he had to hand sew a part cuz the stapler was misfiring and that section is very narrow. Been regurgitating spit balls the whole night. I just want to be back home.. Regretting this so badly, I miss my kids like crazy.

Hang in there sweetie - I vomited for 2 days and was wishing I had tried the old fashioned way one more time, but on day 4 post-op - I feeling human again. Drinking Crystal Light Margarita flavor - it's great. You are going to be o.k. soon.

OMG - The barium swallow was horrific! It made me nauseated almost immediately and I was nauseous for a whole day! But' date=' on the bright side, I know that my new tummy has no leaks and I am really happy about that![/quote']

Luckily I didn't have to deal with that. My surgeon basically does a pressure test during the surgery so that worst case scenario he could fix it before closing me back up.

Wow, you're really lucky. The barium swallow test is just nasty. Thank goodness it was just a few sips.

I'm tolerating liquids, getting my Protein and walking but the problem I'm having is I have an itchy rash all over my body and its driving me crazy! I've scratched so much I drew blood. The dr. Said he didn't want to give me any medicine since I need to focus on my recovery and didn't want any medicines that may cause side effects. He said to wait it out and apply anti itch lotion its nothing to worry about.. This is by far the worst feeling I've had.

What are you all doing to recuperate? If you are returning back to work' date=' when? I'm at home for two weeks watching a bunch of movies, walking around and trying to get the liquid and Protein in. And I'll be back to work on July 22nd.[/quote']

I had surgery July 2nd and am going back to wrk July 16th, exactly 2 weeks. Still going to be careful lifting, etc.. for a few weeks. Pretty much like you, I stayed home, made a few trips to Walmart, just to get out of house. I did walk a lot in the house and outside when it wasn't raining. I write down all my liquid, Protein, carb intake just to make sure... I'm doing great but TIRED of drinking... Looking forward to purée and soft stage. Weighed this am.... 15 lbs since surgery morning!! So excited! Good luck and Congrats to you!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
