Carrot north of band!!

Recommended Posts

Yep! I really did a dumb thing...:faint: I went to a party about two weekends ago and by the time i got there was very hungry. Didnt want to eat bad things so opted for my first raw carrot since the surgery in august. Unfortunately didnt chew it enough and swallowed. So now i am going in today to have my band deflated and see if that little sucker will pop through! It has been rolling around unable to go through and been uncomfortable. Anyone have this happen?:bananapartyhat:

:help: Well went in and had my band emptied of Fluid and sat there in docs office drinking Water to wash that chunk of carrot down. No luck so doc left me unfilled to see if it will go down this week on its own. Otherwise I have to have an endoscopy next Friday to pull that little sucker out. Anyone know anything that will disolve a carrot (North of the Band)

Try some papya enzymes (available at any health food store)...

I had my surgery in October and the first week on solid foods I decided that I would have just ONE baby carrot... I thought I chewed well enough but noooooooooo.... That was not a pleasant experience so early on.... I had already purchased the enzymes in case of emergency and took them then.... within an hour my painful chest was gone....

It cannot hurt to try and see if they break down some of that carrot to get it past your band...

Good luck!

Can you feel it?

Can you see it under floro?

Just curious.

Hope it passed....

:clap2: Ninnyed, you are exactly right. I had already advanced finally to that idea. I dropped by my local health food store 5 days ago (Wednesday)and the gal walked me right over to enzymes. She said (here is one specifically for carbohydrates and vegetables!) That very moment i swallowed my first pill knowing I only had two days before the dreaded expense, etc of a endoscopy. I didn't drink any Water with that capsule and for two hours after. That night before bed i did same thing. Thursday the carrot was gone. Someone asked how i knew it was a carrot and not something else. It is kind of like a bobbing cork feeling. I was suppose to go get my band refilled Friday as it is wide open right now, but i was actually kind of tender down there. So after the weekend it appears that i am all healed up. What a long, long problem to have. I will keep those enzymes for anytime i do something stupid again like this. Raw Carrots and Broccoli stems are out of my diet unless pulverized!

I am SOOOO glad this is over for you!!! An endo would not be fun at all! I hope they do your fill soon and you can be on your way again!

BTW.... Baby carrots are good cooked... hahahahahah

On whether i could eat? Yes i could eat but it was like i semi plugged drain feeling I would imagine. And worst of all i would opt for easy things to get past the carrot like carbs!!!:omg: The hardest food was the foods i should have been eating. So unfortunately i have gained 3# back as of today with the holidays, carbs for comfort of eating past the carrot, and having my band wide open... But no worries this Friday i will be refilled..:( I know i will be fine and back on track!

I do worry a little bit about the fact that some of the healthiest foods out there like raw fruits and vegetables and off limits with the band. For me I feel like the weight loss is the priority for now, but I also do think that there could be negative consequences for health if you need to go your whole life not eating carrots, apples, etc.

You can eat them but for goodness sakes shredd them. I think the risk is to big that we may swallow to soon before we chomp them down to little bits. So either cook em' or shred them. I am admitedly eating raw carrot in my salad still now but every hard vegetable goes into the shred machine. I think in actuality it has more flavors that way!:hungry:

Marjon, I have pulled out my juicer so I can easily 'eat' or digest the goodness from the juices of any vegetable.

I found and bought some aloe vera dessert from the Chinese specialty foods section of my grocer, after reading this thread. I will keep this if I ever feel something stuck.

Good information in this thread....

And yes, I just enjoyed a salad with much shredded carrots...yum...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
