I'm coming up on 24 hours till my arrival time at the hospital. Commence freak-out in 3...2...

(Okay, maybe "freak-out" isn't the right word...but I'm feeling high-strung for sure, LOL!)

I didn't have a pro op diet. Just all liquids for today and nothing after 12 midnight. I attended a hugh cookout yesterday and as I was eating I was thinking to myself how that would be my last big plate if food like that. I'm nervous this morning. My Dr did say he will give something for anxiety in the morning

I would have to have some heavy sedation to touch this anxiety! I'm nervous- it's such a HUGE step! I'm can't wait, but I am quite nervous!!

just joined this website....getting sleeved tomorrow at 10:30am! i have not told anyone other than my sister and my husband....my husband is nervous in a very sweet supportive way. he wants to know what to expect for the first few days when i am home. he has to leave the 4th for work travel and is concerned about leaving me alone. i am nervous about reacting to the anesthesia and i have never had a catheter...but most worried about leak test! i have the worst gag reflex and worried i won't be able to drink the contrast and dye.

Good luck everyone! I will be thinking of all my fellow July 1st sleevers! I need to be at the hospital in 14 hours. My son has has just come down with scarlet fever (not as bad as it sounds) so thankfully I have already been on antibiotics for something else. So bad news is that my husband will have to stay at home with him so I will be facing this on my own. It's not what I imagined, but I keep thinking of all the brave people that travel to a different state or country alone! So at least I will have him by my side post-op. I can't wait to hear of everyone's post op experiences in a few days :D

I need to be at the hospital at 6 and am scheduled for 7:30. I'm a bit nervous, but I think lots of my nerves were about the 14 day liquid preop diet and now that that is almost over, I know that I can exercise restraint and willpower and will hopefully be in good stead for the lifestyle changes that come with this surgery. At this point, I just want to be on the other side of this. Of course, I also expect this to kind of be like the last week of pregnancy when you're sick of being pregnant already, just want to have the baby, but don't realize until afterwards how much easier it was to take care of the baby in than out. :)

I'm SO with you on that.

My surgeon's NP told me that if I'm really anxious at check-in tomorrow, they will offer me a sedative. I think I'll take it!

Heck, maybe they can bring it out to the parking lot and dose me as soon as I roll up!! smilielol.gif

Why am I nervous? I had open heart surgery and lived through childbirth twice! I feel my food demons trying to put bad thoughts in my head.

Anyone else have butterflies in their stomach?

Well' date=' just to clarify, I am CRAZY nervous too! Now, maybe it's the medical background, but I'm not nervous about the surgery itself. I am nervous about post op- the nausea, the pain, the potential for complications. I was told my doctor sends us out of recovery room with a PCA- an IV that we control. Most people would be pleased, but I'm thinking, they don't give a PCA to people with no pain.

I'm trying to stay super busy this weekend, so I don't have a lot of time to worry![/quote']

I barely used any of the medicine in the pump. Used it more for sleep because after sleeping all day because of the anesthesia I wasn't sleepy. I would relate the pain to how your stomach would feel after doing sit ups when you haven't exercised in a long time. I don't do real well with anesthesia, but as soon as it wore off I was good to go. You are going to do great and I will be praying for all of you!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
