Blood pressure question

Recommended Posts

I'm skittle over 3 weeks out and have had high blood pressure for about 6 or 7 years. I take 20 mg of lisinipril per day. I took my blood pressure today and its been so low. (106/64, 95/47)

Is it possible it could go down so soon? I've lost 22 lbs and was sleeved on May 23. I'm not dizzy or anything and I feel great. Anyone else experience this ?

You need to see your regular doctor immediately to reduce your BP meds. Yes it can happen that fast and with just a little weight loss. Congrats!

Mine went down immediately. 130/82 day of surgery, and 102/78 next day. Dr said this would probably happen. Went off blood pressure meds day after!

I also have not taken bp meds since the day before surgery. I am usually just under 120/80 without meds now.

My bp was high in the hospital, they said it may have been from the anesthesia. It's been a bit high since I left on Tuesday but was finally coming down yesterday. I am still taking my meds. I really hope I can get off the meds .... But high bp runs in the family. ????

My doctor took me off my high blood pressure medication about a week post-op (my b/p was 86/44). I am nine months post vsg and still off medication. My blood pressure runs 110-120 over 60-70. Love it!

I'm so thankful for this thread. I take lisinopril every morning and if I forget, by noon I have a pounding headache. My surgery is scheduled for the 25th, first thing in the morning, and I've even thought about getting up at midnight just to take my pill! I know i have to trust in the medical system to take care of me, but it sounds like I may not need anything?! Thanks for sharing!

I don't take any bp meds but my bp came down dramatically after surgery. It was high right after surgery. Most likely from all the fluids they pumped into me, but at my two week appointment it was 100/60.

I was taking 150mgs of Avapro. Stayed on it for a while as my weight came down, then dropped to 75mg and now am off entirely. I wouldn't recommend just dropping the meds without talking to your Drs. There's nothing related to the surgery itself that is magically going to drop your BP. As you drop the weight, the BP should come down as you are seeing.

I was taking propanalol before and metroprolol post op (I am quite allergic to lisinopril) and I had the same problem with my bp going low. I can't say do what I did, but I ended up going cold turkey without meds 4 weeks post op and tracked it for a week to see where my bp and heart rate was at. after that week I started running lower than 120/80 every time and I am still not taking it. when I spoke to my surgeon he looked at it and said it was something definitely not worth treating anymore. it really can get better that quick!

Thank you!!! I am off mine for the time being and they want me to keep track of it for a week so hopefully I will be all good!!! My only prob is I have terrible white coat syndrome so when I go to the dr I have to wait about 30 min before they get an accurate reading bc my first one is always so high. Haha

When I went to my pre-op testing and instructions, they told me to take all my normal meds with a sip of Water, so I am much relieved about that! Tuesday here we come!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
