February 2007 bandsters!

Is there anyone out there with a February surgery date? I found out last week that mine is on February 1. Was shooting for December 06, then hoping for January 07, now thankful it's finally set for February! My surgery is scheduled with Dr. Malley in Kansas City.

 • I think the person who started this thread for us changed to a March band date. So that could be the reason for you not being put on the list. I wasn't put on there either...so I did it myself. I put

 • Thanks for asking Zannie, When I went in for a check at the weight center, I talked to a doctor about my arms. He said It might give me a boost if I went ahead with this and gave me the name of a plas

Hi Everyone,

I have been away for awhile and am just now checking in. I was banded 2-12-07, I go for my first fill May 1, have lost 41 lbs and I am generally enjoying "shopping" in my closet and fitting and feeling better. From what I have read many of you are managing a slow down of weight loss (but still losing) and handling those pesky fills (either not enough or too much :faint: ). I wish you all the best and belated happy birthday wishes, lizerbit & babygirl.

Good Journey,

Terri

Thanks everyone for the good advice. I called today and I'm going to get a small defill tomorrow. Maybe 1/4 cc. Happy b'day Liz

hmmm had my first pb yesterday and boy was it unpleasant. Totally my fault though. Im supposed to be on liquids until tomorrow then mushies for a week due to my first fill but I had been on a job all day with no food I could eat and no where to get any. I was starving so I had two bites of rice and dahl and chewed and chewed but it didnt like me. Not happy.

I barely ate anything yesterday - 2 x low fat hot choc with water, a choc soya low fat dessert and I caved at about 11pm and had 10 almonds chewed to death (no problems). Still hardly a move on the scales and severe constipation.

Not very happy at the moment - cant wait to move on to mushies tomorrow.

Hey there, Just wanted to address the constipation part. I am regular as rain and here is why... I buy the 2 packs of Gerber baby food prunes in the plastic containers & eat 1-2 per day. you could have them on your liquid stage because they are pureed and they make a BIG difference.

Thank you Synical. I live in England but Im sure I can find similar here. Last night I resorted to laxatives which is not a habit I want to get into.

hey! thanks for the bday wishes!!! im hoping it comes true too, its a tall order this time.

as for salad...when im eating regular solid foods i dont do salad of any kind unless i still have room after the protien, but im technically 'fasting' and my dr said i can have two cups of raw veggies in the evening in addition to the shakes. so i chose spinach leaves instead of lettuce. To me it makes a difference. ive heard people struggle with lettuce and just wanted to avoid it, and so far so great. not even a glimmer of stuck or oops....BUT everyone is different.

When i go back to solids i plan on not doing the salads anymore, although, tofu is EXTREMELY high in protien, easilly digestible, and low in carbs. PLUS...

i have a GREAT recipie for atkins lasagna where you slice firm tofu longwise a quarter inch in thickness and use IT in place of pasta. Can cube it and make a cheese sauce and have "fake" mac n cheese! can boil it and cook with chicken and cream of chicken soup, some veggies and viola! "mock" chicken and dumplings!

i love tofu. My youngest thinks im crazy and wont go near the stuff. he said its "wrong". lol..Hes eaten it alot more than he thinks he has too. It can pass that well sometimes. Texture is a LOT. Sometimes you just need something to take the place of rice or pasta.

I was banded on 2/7 and i am only down 23 pounds and at a stand still! HELP!! I already had my fill of 1 cc and have to wait 4 more weeks! I dont want to be fat anymore!

I"m totally with you Marissa.....I don't want to be fat anymore either and this weight is soooooo slow to drop off. I can't believe how little I eat and still don't see pounds falling off. ....It's amazing to me.

I'm with you on the slow weight loss front. I haven't lost anything for nearly 2 weeks. I'm sure it's my body getting used to the change but it's frustrating all the same.

meh...can anybody hear me???

i ws there too, even GAINED eight lbs and went on liquids for four days and it worked, Ive got it off again and working down! did ya try it?

I'm glad the fast worked for you, Lizrbit! It's gotta be nice to know you've found a way to get past the "stuck" periods.

This week I'm trying liquids (protein drinks & water) during the day, and having a regular "band diet" dinner with my family, and then back to liquids for the rest of the night. I'm hoping this'll help get me back on the track my surgeon wants me on... (With the weight I've got to loose, he wants to see me down 2 to 2-1/2 lbs a week on a monthly average for the 1st year.) But liquids all day does seem a bit crash diet-ish, if you know what I mean...reminiscent of the Slim Fast plan I followed for two years in high school! I (naively?) hoped that the LapBand would be the end of crazy diets for me...

What I really need to do is start exercising again, but I just "don't feel like it"... How stereotypically "Fat Girl" does that sound? But it's true for me -- I have never been one for much physical activity. It's gonna bite me in the butt again if I don't get off my butt -- and soon!!!

Hi everyone.

Haven't posted in a while, but just updating everyone. Had my 2nd fill on Monday (Total of 2.5cc in 4cc band) and don't know that I am really feeling much. I seem to stay full a little longer, but am not feeling that 'full' feeling. I think my problem is that I'm looking for the full feeling that I used to get before being banded. That I'm supposed to feel miserable to be full. If I could just change that feeling in my mind, then this band might just be working. It is just so hard to change those old habits.

I also need to be exercising. Have just been doing a little here and there. And I mean a LITTLE.

Does anyone else feel like after having fills that they can still eat larger bites and not chew their food down to mush. I would think that by now, I should be HAVING to do that. I keep thinking that the band will never restrict me enough. I know there is still room for another 1.5 cc's, but am nervous.

I'm not complaining by any means about my experience, because I am very pleased with results this far, just wondering about how I'm supposed to be feeling when the band is in full working mode.

Hope everyone is feeling and doing great!!!!

Hello All,

I was banded on 02/27/2007 & today I will go for my 1st fill. By reading the post I do not suppose to eat or drink after midnight the day befor the fill, but on the day of your adjustment can you have something to drink. My doctor did not tell me.

I think it depends on the surgeon. I had no special instructions for before or after the fill, just afterward to "take it easy, and be extra careful for the first 24-48 hours, and make sure I'm chewing very well, and taking small bites.

I also didn't have food restrictions before my fill, and in fact I'd had a protein drink in the car on the way to it. I thought that was concession enough, not wanting eggs or something in my stomach at the fill itself! :) But no one told me to eat any particular way prior to the 1ST fill.

After the fill, I was on full liquids for 48 hours & mushies for another 48 hours. That, too, seems to vary base on your surgeon's protocol.

Good luck with your fill! :clap2: Let us know how it goes.
