Tracy,

Bummer about the April date instead of February, but great news that BCBS will pay. Congratulations on the approval and solid date!

Hey Tracy,

Congratulations on your band date, finally:faint: Even though it's a date I think you still need a hug:girl_hug: you have been so good to us February Bandsters. Thanks

It was a success !!!

no bad reaction from anesthesia, great staff, surgery went smoothly. I had a hernia repair too.... BUT the pain................. Lord, help me!!!!!!!! I can barely breath, I am on on liquid lortab. my tummy is puffy from the gas, it looks like I am 7 months pregnant. I can feel my stomach, woke up crying " my stomach" !!!!!!!!!! I am scheduled to fly back on saturday... I do not see how I will make it - I will probably have to stay here for a week. Each patient is different, I have heard of people driving on the second day. Maybe this is because of my hernia repair....

I have never experienced so much pain in my life.

:omg:

Luciana Jellie Bellie :)

"Hernia repair" seems to be quite common with this surgery, and I'm getting the impression from these posts that the Hernia repair patients have a little harder time post-op. Things will get better!

:update:

Hey, everybody! Just a quick update this morning. I'm feeling better every day, my incisions aren't weeping or getting red at all, the gas pain is subsiding (FINALLY!!:faint: ) and I'm SO glad to be able to eat something with some substance, even if it is just cream soup!! Pure heaven, in my opinion!

Tracy, I'm sorry to hear that your surgery date has been moved back so far. I'd be going out of my mind about it, as I'm sure you are!

I also wanted to thank you for starting this thread, LBT has been a lifeline for me this week, and this thread has been so reassuring, reading that someone else is going through the exact same thing as I am at the same exact time!

I was reading another thread where someone said that they were so jealous of people that had their band surgery one day and then was climbing Kilamanjaro the next day, it made me laugh, which STILL hurts! I don't think I'll be doing any mountain climbing for at least a couple more weeks! :biggrin1:

Hi: my surgery date is 02/20. I'm excited and looking forward to embarking on this journey. I joined the community today and need to learn how to post a message. Can anyone help? I tend to be puter challenged:phanvan

Feeling pretty good. Had my first full liquid this morning. I had pureed prunes and cream of wheat. Could only eat about half the cream of wheat. But finished the prunes. I have a big gas bubble in the middle of my stomach that doesn't seem to want to move. But all and all I feel good.

CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! I got an email from my docs office and the hospital I have to go to due to insurance is booked all the way into MARCH! So unless someone cancels and I can get bumped up.. there is NO way I'm even going to make a Feb date.

I'm trying to take a deep breath and be patient... (but that is not one of my strong suits) CRAP!CRAP!CRAP!

OK.. done bellyaching now

So sorry, but keep the faith, I started this process in November 2005, was originally scheduled for March 2006 but Doc had personal problem and suspended all surgery. I'm so hoping nothing interferes with 02/20 date.

Hi all. I was finally banded on Feb. 5th and even though they repaired a hernia a was unaware of at the same time, I seem to be doing well. I have a few more limitations, but the worst complaint is the gas. Good Luck to all the Feb. Bandsters!

:update: APRIL 26th, 2007

I guess BCBS has been approving LapBands like wild fire and since they (dr's affiliation) only have ONE center that accepts them (Menorah) I am bumped all the way to the end of April.

I am a bit depressed about the long wait, but am happy to at least HAVE a date and I was put on the cancellation call list.

:typing: Now I'm off to update my RL people who know.

Tracy, congratulations! It's still wonderful news that (some) insurance companies are covering this WLS... IMO, that's definitely a bright side! April will be here sooner than you realize.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
