I was sleeved on June 4th and I'm doing okay, still having trouble getting my Proteins in but doing better. I have what is probably a stupid question, but I have to ask....

I have five incisions and I've been washing them gently each time I take a shower. Well, each incision has this kind of glue substance on it. Should that glue have come off by now??? I can't believe I'm asking and I'm kind of laughing while I type this, but I have a post op appointment in 4 days and I don't want the doc to think I haven't washed myself because they are still covered with glue lol.

Help??!?

The glue will wear off. Don't pick at it. It is providing protection while your incision heals. It will definitely wear off!! Good luck to you!

I was sleeved on June 3rd...I still have the "glue" too. My doc said not to try to remove it, but let it come off naturally (however many showers it takes). Look at it as a protective barrier that you want to keep as long as you can...but not forever.

I don't think it's stupid...I would have washed around it myself so now I have to ask my doc what I should do when I get there.

Nail polish remover will remove it but I do not recommend removing it before your doctors appointment.

Is it that bad that you'd have to resort to using nail polish remover?

I had steri strips and glue took forever I washed and let them fall off on their own didn't want to pull at anything.

It's more than likely dermabond, it's basically surgical superglue. My advice don't remove it, we apply it in surgery many times to help the wound stay sealed and free from infection. It will slowly wear off, and it's a lot better than steri-strips. Also if removed to soon, your incision could become weak and sometimes lead to a nasty scar. Hope this helps and good luck!

If its the incision glue, leave it be. But if its the glue from tape or bandage edges, I used oil to remove it. Aegean oil, coconut oil, even olive oil will work. Just leave the actual incision alone. Good luck!!

Yes, more then likely dermabond. Some times it can take up to a month for it to wear off. Leave it on, don't pick at it. It will fal off on its own. Just give it time. They are using dermabond more and more nodays I think it's awesome

Thank you guys so much!!!! It is over the incisions only, so it must be the dermabond.

That's so funny!!! I felt the same way about where my dr wrote "sleeve" and signed his name on my belly.... Big and blue!!! It would fade but was still there for nearly 2 weeks!

I used goo gone to take it off but it wasn't in my actual incisions just around them. I did have tape on three of my incisions and they said if that didn't fall off in 5-7 days I could remove it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
