Best of luck to you! The sleeve is a very popular surgery here in Israel and in fact, I've been told it is the most common surgery being done in Israel today and if you qualify, covered by insurance.

I don't think there is a difference in Protein requirements, but just how you get it. I am about an hour from Tiberias. Why do you ask?

Good luck!

@@GalileeGal I wish the sleeve was popular here. But in Ontario, Canada the RNY is first and the sleeve is only if you have a condition that precludes the surgeon doing the RNY. You don't really have a choice except some doctors I've heard will at least listen to why you think you should have the VSG and then may do it.

I know everyone is different but I love seeing the success that you've had with your sleeve.

I asked where you are because your name made me think you were in the Galil and we have Tiberias and Tzfat on our short list for our trip to Israel next year.

Feel free to email me. Marilyngl@bezeqint.net. I have been living in the Galilee for 30 years and wouldn't recommend either of the places you mentioned for North Americans unless you are very religious :) if living in A city is important to you, I think you'd be more comfortable in Karmiel, which is the Capitol of the Galilee and quite lovely..

I loved Tzfat when I was in Israel over the summer. I wouldn't mind actually joining a Livnot U'Lehibanot program for a couple weeks during my next stint.

That being said, I enjoyed more of my time being spent in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

And oh my....the foooood. It was post sleeve and I ate like a king. Chetzi falafel v'chummus b'pita, Bevakasha!!

"לבנות ולהיבנות" [Livnot U'Lehibanot] means "to build and to be built" in Hebrew. It's an organization located in Tzfat that offers volunteer opportunities for mainly North American Jews on tour in Israel.

Has anyone found fasting all day to be a problem? Like on Yom Kippur do you do okay?

I'm new to this forum, also living in Israel, due to have my op on 12 Jan 2015, any good advice for first couple of weeks after with Shabbat food?

Believe it or not, I frequently ate mashed up gefilte fish post-op (I think about a month after) and loved it.You can even find it in the supermarket with no sugar, and it is delicious. I also ate a lot of chopped liver, cottage cheese and applesauce, tehina.....be creative and make sure you eat slowly and enjoy your food.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
