Help me convince people Mexico is safe

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in Mexicali, Mx. Had a great experience. Doctors and staff were very kind and professional. Stayed in hospital 4 days. Did several leak tests. I would do it again if I had to. Dr. Aceves was my doctor. I had better care there then I've had here in the states. My doctor actually had time for me and took his time to answer my questions and concerns.

For these reasons I didn't tell but 3 people and that doesn't include anyone in my family!! My husband was on board because he's wonderful!! Everyone else wasn't supportive when I was looking into the surgery a year ago and they must have forgot and I wasn't about to remind them. You can't convince people who don't want to see the truth!! For me, Mexico took way better care of me than any experience I've ever had in the states. They were extremely professional and clean. I would highly recommend my surgeon and hospital to ANYWAY considering getting sleeved, but when it comes to telling my family, I just didn't want the negativity and condescending remarks. Good luck with everything and remember, it's your life, and you decide who should know or not. You'll need support afterwards :-) Mexico is safe!!

I am currently at the Marriott and three days out of surgery. I went with A Lighter Me and used Dr. Elias Ortiz. I can not say enough good things about this Doctor and the care I received. They (Dr. And his coordinators) met my every need. Dr. Ortiz came to my hotel both nights AFTER a two night stay in the hospital. I am a nurse and felt I was in good hands the whole time.

I traveled from auckland Nz to TJ to have surgery w dr Garcia in May - people thought I was bananas ... But now I'm sure they're all jealous lol I have an AMAZING experience ... These Dr's do so many per day and 6 days a week - they are experts at what they do - just show them this site - I kept emailing my dad all the good reviews I found ... Finally he said "ok, I'll get on the bus, cause there's no point standing in front of it"

I could NOT be happier I did it ... Good luck to you - remember u don't need to ask anyone's permission to do what u want x

Honestly, I would not have surgery in Mexico because I feel like follow up will always be a problem and in some ways that is more important than who/where you have surgery.

That being said, it is a legitimate option for people who don't have coverage in the states and elsewhere. If it were me I would not try to justify myself to anyone. I might not even mention it to them just to avoid the drama until it's finished.

The only reason this is a big deal for me is because I am trying to get the financing through my parents because I haven't been able to get it on my own...and if they don't approve they won't help me.

I had mine in TJ. What a great experience. A driver picked us up from SD airport and took us to the hospital. TJ was clean and not scary at all. The hospital was clean and the staff was nice' date=' professional and spoke English. My coordinator who is from the states was there as well which was nice to have someone I had been in contact with for months before the surgery. I stayed two nights. My sister brought her laptop and tons of movies, unless you want to watch Spanish tv. After I was discharged the driver took us to a hotel then picked us up a few hours later and dropped us off at the airport. Ask for a wheelchair so you don't have to do too much walking only days after surgery. It was a great experience. If you want the company and surgeon name pm me. My recovery has been great. My coordinator called me after I had been home for a few days and will call again after my month mark. Good luck![/quote']

Hi,

As I was reading the forum I came across your post about being sleeved in MX. I am considering having mine done there more and more. My ins doesn't cover it here, so I bought into an ins that will. It's been a fiasco with the ppl here (in MA), one delay after the next. I began this journey last Dec and although I've done EVERYTHING they require, I still have no date... I'm frustrated and shocked that they are this disorganized.

If you wouldn't mind, would you pls send me the info for where you went and who to speak to in order to get this ball rolling...

Thanks

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
