There's a Mexico/self pay sub forum.. LOTS of information about many mexico doctors/hospitals there. From the "gaststric sleeve forums" page, just scroll way way down it's one of the subforums near the bottom!

You're welcome.. I was sleeved in Mexico (not at the OCC) and had a great experience. You'll find that most Mexico sleevers are happy to share experiences and advice with you. Good luck and Welcome!

I was sleeved there May 28th 2013! Loved it! Great experience all the way around! Would do it again in a minute! Wish I would have done it years ago! OH the time I lost not investing in myself sooner!

I am being sleeved in Mexicali by Dr. Aceves on August 5th. If I had it done it town, it would cost me 20K. My surgery in Mexico will cost 8750, plus plane fare. And, I will be in the hospital three days, not one and will have three leak tests.

I wish you well and every success....in whatever decision you make, I was going to go to Mexico however, after doing due diligence and extensive research, I decided NOT to go to Mexico. My family member was to have her VSG by a Dr. G. Alvarez in Piedras Negras,Mexico however, due to a serious medical issue--her USA doctor told her that it would be much too dangerous to have the surgery in Mexico....when she tried to get her one thousand dollar deposit returned to her....the so called 'coordinator' Refused to return the funds...clearly, not a way to run a medical practice and clearly, a possible litigious situation. There are no safeguards in Mexico should something go wrong .....and,much too risky having surgery with a doctor who does not have the post graduate surgical training as does doctors in the USA. The surgeon that I was thinking of going to did not have the post graduate training....even though-he posted his so called resume....going to weekend seminars at nice vacation spots is not post graduate training in surgery....it is called....'buyer beware' ....do not trust..... and make sure that you Verify.....wherever , you decide to have the surgical procedure...... all the best....wishing you good health...and lots of success....

I am having the sleeve with Dr. Alvarez in July.. I have just spoke with an ob/gyn here in my area that just had the sleeve with Dr. Alvarez as well as many others. They have been great so far, I've had lots of communication with them and I have already paid my no refundable deposit to hold the surgery date. I've already seen my doctor here in the states that says he will most definitely see me after the sleeve surgery with Dr. Alvarez and he has also done some checking up on him and seems very pleased with his record and certifications.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
