I'm eating 800-1000 a day but if I plan a big workout then ill up it to 1200 calories a day

What do you eat? I'm having a really hard time getting enough calories and Protein in. Do you eat small amounts often? I need advice on how to get more calories in. Oh and the calories I do eat are mostly protein, just not enough.

I can only have little to no Protein in the mornings so I usually have one pce of multigrain toast with butter and Vegemite with a sml skinny Cappuccino. lunch is usually a 85g can of either tuna or lite chicken chop chop dinner is high in Protein, mainly red meat, zucchini and mushrooms or Beans. I alternate between red and white meat. Snacks are bega string cheese and mainland light cheese and crackers 30g.

Tomorrow is my 5 month weighin.

HW 264.

1st appt 253.4 (april 2013)

SW 237.7 (may 21 2013)

CW 185

52.7 pounds simce surgery

68.7 pounds since April

I had a huge 5 week stall and even my last 2 month weigh ins have only been about 5 or 6 pounds a month. I started exercising 3 month after surgery, I had severe back problems but I walk 2.3miles 6days a week. I bicycle 6-7 miles 3days a week too. I have become crazy obsessive with weighing and losi g weight and what if I dont lose anymore.

Its so easy to forget that if we had excercised 5-6 days a week before and had even watched what we ate we probably would have never been 264 pounds!! So why is it that after we cut out our stomachs, and eat 500 calories a day, and excercise like crazy we still think we wont loose weight??

Is it wrong to be unhappy knowing on my 6month weighin Nov 21st I probably still be 180 having only lost another 5 pounds? I am working my ass off and it is soo slow now. When I first had surgery I thought man 150 would be less than what I weighed when I got married....but now almost 70 pounds lighter I want to finish out and start maintenance at 130. Sooo 55 pounds at 5 pounds a month means 11 more months. How does this sound to others? I guess 134 pounds in 16 months is good?? I have been lucky enough to not have to work right now, so all morning I excercise, eat right and then my husband goes to work at night. And the obsessing starts. There isnt enough tracking amd journal writing to save me. Any thoughts, suggestions, kind words, insite?

Heres another thought. If I knew right now I wasnt going to lose another pound. Would I keep exxercising so much? Or just see how long I could get by on under 750 calories??

Progress... is Progress... am I a slow looser... I dont know...I know i feel really good about where Ive come so far... I purchased a XL shirt. I used to wear a 4 or 5xl shirt. I purchased a size 40 pants... Almost ready to go to 38... I was wearing a 46. Im rocking this sleeve. It hasnt been easy.... My fat mentality is still ever so present. I cant stop looking for validation from others... and I still make myself a regular plate from time to time. The difference is, I eat slower and when i reach my full point there is a lot of food on my plate and I get rid of it and it doesnt go into my mouth... haha... This is a game of self control. I have come to that realization. Its about Choosing to be different, eat different, live different and working to win... Its about refusing to give up. My workout routine is something i would never had guessed it would be. I run the brooklyn bridge (3.2 miles) 4-5 days a week. If i cant get to the bridge i am still commited to my 3.2 miles on those 4-5 days... and then 2-3x a week i do weight training in my home along with a 40 minute kickboxing routine which was on my on demand TV station.(Free) ... The object of the game is to win. Winning is subjective. I beleive that winning in this game is to change your life poisitively. I am not just looking at the scale (though I have been a slave to the scale at some point in this journey) I see me being ddifferent, approaching things differently and moving forward over and over again over any obstacle or mental breakdown. (especially during them stalls that are fucked up-excuse my language) But overall. I can say that this was the best decision ever, not only for me but for the people who i share it with. I am pretty open about my journey and Ive had a few people already start their process because they see mine. Paying it Forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last but not least... Ive learned that when i want something that i shouldnt eat... like a burger, or a donut or something like that... HAVE IT!!!! and I can never eat all of it... and it happens rarely... But once in a while I give in.. and I dont have to beat myself up, or ever forgive myself for it.... Its OK... Its OK... For me... You have to choose for yourself, if that "give in" is OK for you every once in a while... It's all a choice...

Lawrence-Thank you so much for posting. I't so strange how close I am to the way you think. Like you, I realize you have to find your own way of being healthy, both physically and emotionally. I will never diet again. I actually hate that word. This journey for me is to be positive and healthy as I can be without the self-hate mentality. Best of luck to you.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
