Hi I feel like I'm eating many different things I love because I know I only have a week until liquid diet:( I know it's not the last time I will eat these things again. It's just going to be a different kind of eating lifestyle post-op small amounts. I need to know in my head that there is no room for failure this time because I am an overeater. I definitely want to have that full feeling and be able to eat small amounts . I love being able to vent and get advise on this forum it's great to have the support from people that truly know what I'm going through :)

What you are doing is having a food funeral...I was so glad I did that before my sleeve.....A lot of people have the funeral before they go on the liquid diet...you are not alone....

Today I had a Harveys hamburger and before the sleeve I would have chowed down on it and felt stuffed and sick.....Today I took everything off the burger and ate a little bit of the bun and half of the meat.....I was so happy to have the burger......but the sleeve keeps me from eating it until I am sick......

I love the feeling of never being stuffed.......I watch closely how much I put in my mouth and I have turned into a picky eater....I eat things I have never eaten before and loving every minute of it....lots of protien and then veggies, fruit and carbs in that order. 116 lbs down......and I am happy I did it...

Best to you!

Wow 116 lbs that's fantastic I wish I did this long ago but it is what it is:) 20 days to go I just don't want to fail :( I'm reading how you can stretch the sleeve out and gain weight back that scares me . I do have a positive outlook on this but I guess it's because I've failed at all my diets. I just don't want to ever get to that place of needing to eat so much to feel full . Thank you for your response it helped . Do you have any before and after pics ? I'm so happy for you !!

I totally Agree with what you were saying. I can't wait before from a smaller amount it does it dictates a lot of food to fill me up

Sorry I am using talk to text and it just sent it the way it was. What I meant to say was I can't wait to be full from a smaller portion it seems like it takes so much to fill me up now. I am on a liquid diet these two weeks and I am on day 6 .., 8 to go

Don't worry about stretching the sleeve out for now.....You will deal with maintaining when you are at goal weight. You will know when you are full...trust me there is no feeling like it if you over eat.......a good measure is 1 cup of food if it were puraded....But at first you will not eat as much as 1/4 of a cup....It took me weeks to work up to 1 cup...I do have before and after pics....but I feel that the photos still make me look huge......

I am trying to have a better attitude about the weight loss...I just want so badly to be at goal......Impatient I guess......It is very exciting to watch the weight come off......and you will find that too.......and you will want to continue to lose......

Keep your goal in mind and hang tough!

My surgery isn't until July 30th and I guess I started my food Funeral early. I am looking forward to having a forced limit on my intake. I plan to take full advantage of this sleeve to put order to my lack of limits.

I did the exact same thing in fact I called it my restaurant bucket list!! Some will advise against it but in order for me to move forward I had to say goodbye to my old life to move forward to my new one. I want this change of life with a very clear outlook to what the change entails. I am now on day 10 of the 2 week liquid diet and I KNOW it was the best thing I could have done for the mental process of this change. Good luck on your journey!!

Trust me...the closer you get to the surgery date the more determined you will be.........I looked at some photos of myself last night and was shocked at how big I had gotten....The sleeve has saved my life I think........

Forced to limit food intake...you will have no choice.....Once the weight starts coming off....you will want to see progress faster and faster to get away from what you were before the surgery......

Every day I ask my hubby if he thinks I lost weight today....It is not about the loss really.....it is about your health....but for me the weight coming off is the beginning......

I had a food funeral myself last week... I'm being sleeved tomorrow! I had my closest friends and family over for a BBQ and asked them to bring my favorite dish that they make. We drank, we ate, and had a blast. The way I see it is that food has acted as a friend and comfort for so long that the only way I could get closure was to formally "say goodbye". Having my family and friends there to Celebrate and support me made me realize that THEY will always be there for me for comfort and support. It was like a mental changing of the guard. :-)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
