Focus on the social aspect of the cookout. Make each interaction you have a little deeper or meaningful. There is NOTHING at that cookout that is going to taste as good or better than you feeling in control.

If you aren't ready to face the food then would it be possible to stay home? I hate to be a negative nancy but if it's a trigger then take care of yourself first. I had my friends bake the cookies for the teachers and I skipped some pot luck lunches at my husbands work. I just wasn't ready.

When I have been craving salty food I have a cup of chicken stock with a little vinegar and hot sauce to make a mild hot&sour. If I crave sweets I have a little glass of fruit juice. Still in the full liquid phase.
