Any watch the 900 lb man?!

Wow what a way to go. I felt it was kind of exploitive. And I kind of felt like the wife had a huge role in his weight. And the doctor in Guam was incompetent and didn't want to help him.

Just watched it. The ending was really unfortunate. I was really looking forward to seeing him succeed! I completely agree with you about the wife though. Even when the doctor asked her if she was committed to helping him lose the 100-150 he needed pre-op, she was like "Whatever"...

I know! I was like wtf, it's like she really didn't want him healthy. I never expected him to pass away. I wanted to see him lose the weight. But he ended up committing suicide. Insane.

Saw it and had to watch it again 2 hours later when it came on...I felt for Ricky and his story was truly heartbreaking. The whole time watching i was subconsciously seeing myself in his position and then hearing him say he needed help but only when he wasn't eating because when he was eating....it seemed like he was the happiest guy in the world, he even said "This is so delicious!, I am gonna eat this now but after i am gonna feel disgusted with myself"....MAN! It's as if i was looking in the mirror at that point. That was truly a reality check.

I completely agree. I was ashamed of him/myself for it. I just wish it had a better out come. But in reality he was just saying what they wanted to hear. But man such a downer. At least he's in a better place now.

I missed the beginning of the show but I saw this. Why did she behave that way? I thought she wanted him to not die?

Actually the doc in gwam was the only one willing to take his case, so how that qualify as incompetent. Surgery is risk and being that obese is quadriple risks, yes he was required to lose some wt unfortunately his wife was not supportive and he passed.

I think it was because for the past 2 or 3 years they had asked him repeatedly to drop 100+ pounds before they could help him. When they checked back on them, he had not been able to lose any. So when they asked for him to lose the 100+ pounds again this time, she already knew what the likelihood of that would be, and she was ready to just wash her hands of the doctors and her husband too.

Another reason insurance shouldn't require such a high BMI. But then insurance is in for money not our health.

I watched the woman who was (I think) over 700lbs and she too died from surgery complications. Also saw another one who the mother was the enabler for sure. She was bringing buckets of KFC in the hospital room. So sad. I realize the other people don't "have to" quit eating around us, but seriously... Think of others!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
