Who's excited?!

Recommended Posts

Looks like this group is just getting started, so I wanted to say HI! My surgery date is June 7, 2013 in Northern Virginia - I'm so stoked, y'all! I'm required to be on a pre-op diet (low carb) for 10 days, but chose to jump start that with a low-calorie diet starting today. 18 days!!!! :D

Did plenty of preparation shopping this weekend...my cupboards are full of Protein powders, supplements, broth, etc. I also made sure to buy my chapstick, tummy pillow (just a fun hot pink frayed throw pillow!), sippy cups (go Tinkerbell!)...what are you doing to prepare?!

What's the reasoning behind the sippy cups?

Just wondering.

So exciting!!!

I read about sippy cups in a few places on here - people recommend them as you're learning to take small sips of Fluid post-op. I'm a gulper by nature (water, Diet Coke, screwdrivers, etc.), so I thought they'd be helpful!

Hi everyone! June 12th sleever here. I'm going through Kaiser Richmond. Have been on 1200 calorie high Protein, low fat, low carb diet for 2 months now. Have already lost 20 pounds pre-op. During this time, I have also completely cut out wheat and all sugars. What a difference! I think I might have had some sort of resistance/allergy to wheat. Once I completely cut it out, the pounds started to melt off. On our plan, we fortunately don't have to do liquid/protein shake diet pre-op. Going to Disneyland for 4 days prior to surgery...no time to get nervous or anxious about surgery, I'll be too busy having fun! Good luck to all of you!

I find it interesting the various pre-op diets we're subjected to. Every doctor has a different flavor, for sure! My doctor put me on a 10 day diet that allows me to eat as many calories as I want to...the only caveat is that I can't consume more than 50g carbs per day. I'm halfway through, as today is Day 5, and I'm sick of meat and cheese! LOL! Luckily, I found some other options while grocery shopping today - and even got a low carb hint from a barista at Starbucks! SOOOO happy to enjoy a latte today! :D

The countdown's on...only a few days left now!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
