Slippage prognosis

Recommended Posts

These post were very informative and way to go tutuclvr you may be opening doors for many other bandsters.

More people need to BAND together on this and get insurance companies to cover this.

It is not right that we should have to go to another country to get reasonable cost health care.

Please keep this post going!!!!!!!

I am almost 3 years out and have had a few complications with aspiration from being to tight. Now I have little restriction and I am hungry all the time. I am going to a great physician here in WA State so I feel confident we will figure out what is going on with me right now. I was just unfilled the rest of the way on Tuesday and I am on liquids until next Thursday. Hopefully all with go well when they do a fill then.

Again thanks for the informative post.

Kathy

Did I mention I am considering a class action law suit on the basis of failure to provide minimum coverage that Medicaid patients receive and also discrimination of the obese?

I do wish you the best of luck, but just wanted to mention here that the insurance company is not the "bad guy". They would be happy to provide coverage for WLS, if only your employer was willing to pay the higher premiums to cover it. Employers negotiate lower premiums by opting to exclude/limit certain things - like WLS or drugs, drugs for ED (Viagra, etc), mental health inpatient care, drug and alcohol rehab, etc.

Just because Medicaid/Medicare patients may be eligible for WLS does not mean they receive an all around higher standard of care. Medicare patients, last I heard, were having their coverage for fills denied, although Medicare paid for the band.

I am a little worried that I may have a slip, I had the flu over New Years and vomited until I couldn't swallow my own siliva. I had an emergencey unfill and felt much better within a few minutes. I had all the liquid taken out and waited about 3 1/2 weeks to start fills again. I have gained 10 pounds and have had two fills in the last month. I feel no restriction at all and feel very different than I did before the unfill. I have no reflux but just have a feeling that all is not well. I am going back in later this week for another fill. I am hoping that I am just a worrier!!!

Hello;

I have some questions about having a slip. I had the band since Sep 04 and lost a total of 65lbs. I have never felt restricted and have a fill of 5cc in a 10 cc band. I followed the Doctors program to a tee but about 6/7 months ago I started to regain weight and noticed I was eating more. I went back to my Surgeon and he did a quick upper gi and told me not to drink alot so he could see things better. He then told me everything is in place and not to worry. Well since then the Surgeon has left the state and is practicing in another state. I have regained about 35lbs now and looking for ideas and also a new Doctor in the Miami Fl area. Thanks

It seems I am just a worrier, I had the 3rd fill and now feel restriction. I am so happy. Now to get back to losing this weight. I did learn alot about not getting to tight. Will try to use the band to help me in my choices and not expect it to do everything ( will try not to get it too tight!) I still need to make good choices.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
