I'm in Yonkers. I was banded 12/15/06 by Dr Ortiz in TJ. He was great. His partner for his Cancun location is the Cheif of St Vincents- Dr Nick Gabriel. It was suggested that I could go to Christine Ren from NYU who is supposed to be good too, for fills. Also Lennox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Fielding did my surgery at NYU but Dr. Ren did one of my fills. They are some of the most knowledgeable people around. I am SO glad I chose to have my surgery at NYU.

Just wanted to see how everyone was doing? I was banded on the 3rd. I have had no problems at all. I moved onto pureed foods today. That liquid diet was slowly killing me I think. I hope everyone is doing well... Good luck

Hey Julie... I'm from Alabama too and also have lived in NYC for 5 years... weird... lol

I moved to Maryland when I was 8 though, so maybe it doesn't count, but I think it's awesome that you're from bama!

I was born in Mobile...what about you?

Great to hear from a New Yorka! How much weigh did you loose, Any fills yet , tell me more if you can .... Nellie:clap2:

I was banded on Jan 3rd and no fills yet. I feel pretty good. Waiting for all these dumb steri strips to come off. (I had staples at first, which I asked to be removed 5 days later and replaced with the strips). Lost 10 lbs quickly, and am at a plateau now. They told me this would happen when my body realized it was "starving". Still makes me sad when I get on the scale. Uh, maybe I should hide the scale for a week, huh?

brooklynite here 4 months post-op down 55 pounds and very happy with the whole situation though i wouldnt mind being a little tighter but my doc is super conservative and rightly so.

banded by Dr. nick Gabriel

Hi, I'm from Staten Island. Dr. Ren did my band surgery. I'm so happy with my results so far. Still getting used to it, but I am definitely seeing differences in both the scale and my clothes! I've already gone down from a loose 3X to a comfortable 1X. I can even fit my butt into a large - but not brave enough to wear them out yet!

hey there debbie and shloimke! On christmas day Ill be 3 months post op. Ive seen a slight difference in my clothes and I wish my band was tighter. However even loose Im down 46lbs which is pretty awesome.

Wow - 46 pounds in 3 months, that is AMAZING!!! I was banded on 10/1/07 and I'm down 34 pounds. It might be more, I go for my 3rd fill this afternoon. Between my first and second fill, I was challenged with 3 ccs in my band, no restriction at all, Thanksgiving, and I quit smoking. Hopefully this time around I see more of a difference on the scale.
