I just threw a napkin at my husband :(

Recommended Posts

So I had a pretty good day I went to the farmers market and bought lots of tidbits for a casual dinner tonight for the husband and kids. It's hot so I made a big platter with two different goat cheeses, smoked salmon, sun dried persimmons, French baguette slices, and orange slices. I had some too but not a lot.. Well fast forward an hour or so and they all want to eat again... I'm upstairs because they are playing Xbox and I dislike it. I'm at the point of the evening when the cravings get the worst and I'm battling with myself not to sneak downstairs and eat something bad.. They (husband and teen daughter) send the boy (who is 11 and the charmer) up to ask "please can you come down and make pork Buns because we are hungry again" 0_o I really didn't want to face the kitchen again because I'm weak willed. so my son says "you know what mom I'll try and steam them myself" He runs down and tries but needs help so the evil video playing ones yell up that he's going to burn the house down. I ended up going and doing it myself (with his help) and opened the cupboard several times wanting something sweet, but I just looked and closed it up again. But I'm on edge! I'm serving up the buns and one breaks open so it not "perfect" looking anymore, I handed it to my husband and I swear he looks at me like "oh thanks" Well ladies and gentlemen, that's all it took! I threw the napkin at his face and I might of said something like f**k you... Ok I did!!! OMG I'm a mess!

I must say my husband is a great man who does a lot to make my life easy ( works so I can stay home, grocery shops etc) So he's not an ass (usually)

By the way they are downstairs laughing, playing and eating..

You did good -- you were tempted, but didn't start eating things just to eat. I hope that I will be as strong as you are after I have my surgery. But it must be frustrating because you have to take into account those darned normal eaters, who can have the forbidden fruit.< /p>

Laura, I say count it as a victory!!! You didn't eat anything. If the worst you did was cuss at your husband and throw a napkin at him you did good! I have a husband and kids and I know it's hard!!! Give yourself a pat on the back and go take a hot bubble bath!!

Ha! I didn't really think about the fact that I beat the temptation... I will take that right now, because my husband just came upstairs and he's not happy. He thinks I'm being selfish :(

And didn't want to hear why I'm on edge right now.

So proud of you! I know you can win this war with food. As for the great man in your life, sit him down and explain your frustration. Let him know you had a moment of anger and that your over it.

Maybe you can explain that to him, for many of us, the wrong foods are an addiction. And one of the hardest things about problems with food is that we can't just not eat. With cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine, what you do is completely eliminate the substance. We cannot do that.

Hey girly!

Long time!

OMG we never fight but tonight is the exception,

He's mad at me and I'm mad at the world :P

It's amazing how strong the desire for food is sometimes. I need to breathe and stay calm. And perhaps call it a night and go to bed..

I've been really open and he has always been very supportive, I've laid everything bare to him regarding my food addiction and he's always been so supportive. But being human we all have less than stellar moments, I think tonight our flaws are getting the best of us..

I think you did way better than I would have in this situation. Tell him he's lucky it wasn't something heavier than a napkin :P Maybe the pressure is just getting to all of you. I'm sure it has to be slightly stressful on him as well, though not near as much as you are feeling.

Take the triumph that you didn't give into temptation.

Hi Laura-Ven,

Great job avoiding the food, and on keeping your temper... It could probably be worse lol! And I agree with you!!! The temptation is so real, and it is constant--I mean all the time for me. .it is hard try and eat healthy, especially avoiding pitfalls (like snacking junk food), eating lunch with colleagues bec that's when I get so tempted so I alienate myself :( Worst part for me, no weight loss! Keep up the good work and hopefully you guys will kiss & make up tonight ;D

It just sounds like "real life". Don't sweat it. No one's perfect - and that applies to you and your hubby. Making you cook pork Buns at all would have made me feral! It's the end of the school holidays where I am, and as I'm on the pre-op diet I've made my 14 yo son cook dinner every night for the whole 2 weeks (with my support). When he complains I remind him that I'm not eating it, so really doing the shopping, supporting him and cleaning up afterwards (that's our deal) is about as good as its going to get. So far, so good... And I think he might be starting to enjoy himself now.

If you were hungry a little nibble wouldn't have hurt why don't you cycle your calories if you know you're going to be hungry later on at night maybe try a salad or lots of veggies for lunch which are low cal and you'll be good to go for dinner just a thought. Eating with my family is still a big part of my life and I really enjoy participating. Isolating yourself because you're not eating a pork bun isn't worth the mental anguish my 2 cents

Hahaha, put a brick in the napkin and throw it again! I mean, I believe in treating folks nice, but sometimes you gotta get their attention.

Awww girl, don't sweat it. There's plenty of times when I've wanted to straight up punch my husband in the face! I love the man to death, but ya know, men are hard to live with sometimes! Good job on resisting temptation! He'll get over it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
