Looking for people with similar stats

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering who here had similar stats to mine. I am 31 5'6.5", 257lbs BMI ~44. I just started my journey and have my first NUT appt. May 6. I am an active person and enjoy running outside but have problems with my diet (obviously) so was looking for a permanent solution to help me stay at a healthy weight. I would love to hear about your journey and see pics, especially those that have similar stats to mine. Hopefully by the end of this year, since I have to do 6 months of NUT appts., I will have my surgery and join these success stories!

Your BMI is actually a little less than 41... (I am around your stats and thought that 44 seemed high so I recalculated it using the stats you gave on height/weight)

I'm the same as you.... exercise isn't my issue...what I eat and the amount is.

Good luck with those appointments and hopefully you'll let us know when you finally get through all the insurance rig em roll and get your surgery date!!

I have the same stats as you and your BMI seems around a 41, mine is. I am suppose to have my surgery tentatively in June. Exercise is not my problem, I run marathons, play softball, and workout with weights. My eating is the problem and the years of abuse I subjected my metabolism to in order to make weight in cheering and softball. I am praying insurance approves me. I have almost completed my 6m evaluation.

Hi, I'm 24 5'7 and had a starting weight of 256lbs so we're pretty close. I had my surgery on December 20, 2012 and today I am 194 pounds so a total of 60 pounds lost since surgery. I think everyone is different but here are some pics of my before and after. I had a pretty rough time until about 3.5 months out, but at this point i don't regret it! Hope this helps....

Thank you! I thought it was lower too but that is what the dr told me (44). Have you had your surgery yet? I will keep everyone updated on my process.

OMG you look great! I agree you look great! What kind of problems did you have, if you don't mind me asking.

I was in the hospital for about 2 months. had the surgery dec 20th, around the 13th of january was not able to keep any solids down so i had an upper gi done and it was determined that there was too much scar tissue so went back in for a revision to clear the scar tissue on jan 20th felt even worse afterwards and on the 25th had a stent placed in my esophagus for 10 days to open the stricture helped a tiny bit but had 2 dilations after that and was back and forth in the hospital until they determined i contracted a syndrome called SMA (semantic mesenteric artery) where pretty much theres this fat slab that holds the intestines in place and in my rapid weight loss, i lost that slab as well my intestines shifted onto an artery that was lodged against my esophagus and that i would probably have problems for the rest of my life.. long story short after being fed through a pic line for 2 months and basically being told there was nothing they could do, i discharged myself from the hospital, had the pic line removed, and decided to heal myself. Started eating even if it wouldnt stay down and staying active and COMING OFF ALLL THE MEDICATIONS and since I've done that i feel fine can eat fine (besides the limitations of the sleeve) and am exercising daily with loads of energy. I'm doing crossfit training and losing about 6 pounds per week no stalls no complications.. but it was such a scary experience i almost regretted doing it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
