Hi Everyone,

I was sleeved on Tuesday (4/23). I was discharged from the hospital this morning at 11:30 am. I am home now and reality is setting in. I am in pain, more than I thought. I had my gallbladder out and my surgeon told me I had a hiatal hernia. It feels very surreal that I've had this done - I'm feeling anxious. I hope it doesn't take too long before I feel better. Any advice, comments, words of wisdom, suggestions, etc. are appreciated!

Nic x

The pain gets better with each day. It really doesn't last too long. Get up and walk as much as you can and that will help speed the healing process. You won't regret this decision.

Wow home already? I was sleeved on Monday and am going home today i did have the option is staying another day if i wanted. I had setback though and did not pass my barium swallow the day after surgery so that held me up a day. I have to say three worst day was the day after surgery with pain and nausea but they were giving me a lot of nausea meds and i had my pain pump until this morning. I did think that second day omg what did i do but today I'm feeling pretty good and i think i am turning the corner. You will get there be patient.

I agree. I had my surgery 4/22 and each day gets better. I wanted to die on 4/22. The nurse asked me on a scale of 1-10 how much it hurt and I said 400. I'm a bit melodramatic. But I woke up in recovery puking and my head was swimming. She came back later and asked -now how do you feel. And I said I still want to die.

Today...only 3 days later and I feel great. Or well- great in comparison. I'm still using pain meds to get around. When I was you on day 2 I still needed a lot of rest but it really helped to get up and walk when I could.

I'm actually surprised they sent you home already. I'd think they'd want to keep you on IV liquids. On the bright side at least you can sleep in your own room and not be woken by people every hour.

Be sure to get all your liquids in. I set an alarm on my phone and every 10 minutes I drink one ounce of Isopure or Water. I found that warming it up made my stomach tolerate it more.

Have you taken a shower yet? That really helped me feel better.

Keep us posted on how you're doing. It really does get better each day.

This is temporary, I promise! I had my surgery on the 10th and the first week was ROUGH but I feel a whole lot better now. I actually coded in the hospital, and I was back to work (I'm a nurse) the Tuesday after surgery. I know you don't feel like it now, but PLEASE make sure you keep up your protien. If you don't get your 60 grams, you'll feel like a truck hit you, backed over you and hit again for good measure, I felt so crappy right when I got home I didn't hardly eat anything and I could hardly get off the couch to go to the bathroom and laid on the couch and cried for three days. The fatigue was debilitating. I called a friend who had this ten years ago and she said I needed protien, and she was absolutely right. Also, set your clock for every four hours for your painkillers-DO NOT WAIT or the pain will get out of control and very difficult to control. Keep your head up, it does get easier every day. And weigh yourself-it'll remind and encourage you!

I'm feeling a little better. It's still slow moving, I'm not hungry whatsoever. It's a chore to drink the shakes. When I do drink them, I stand up and pace back and forth, I notice it helps tremendously with the gasses inside. I am able to drink the shakes and Water without any difficulty after doing this. I notice a lot of people try to come off their pain meds as soon as they come home, I'm not one of them! I follow the dosage and stick to it, I'm still in a decent amount of pain. Taking it one step at a time, thanks for thinking of me!

Hi all

I was sleeved 23/4. Discharged 25/4. Was on clear fluids and started Protein Shakes, Soups etc yesterday 26/4.

I found walking helping alot. Felt heaps better after actually sleeping in my own bed. Never took pain meds yesterday and hopefully it can continue.

Battling to get the volumes in but seems with each meal and depending on how dense the food is, determines how much I am able to have.

Started my B12 dots, Multivitamin and losec yesterday. Takes a bit if getting used to as surprisingly that also fills you up.

I think this is a gift and will be a challenging journey, but take it a step at a time, follow your drs orders, you have us all for support and above all keep your chin up and keep smiling! ????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
