If you don't get any response here, try some of the other sites like Obesity Help.com and a few other weight loss sites. I'd have it but only if my doctor recommended. It's enough of an experiment having the surgery with all my co-morbidities. I definitely don't want to be a guinea pig or "practice" for doctors just learning the technique. I'd love to know what you find out!

I think it depends on your bmi. My bmi is too high to get the one incision. So I have to get 5

i got it just about a week ago, it's really too early for me to tell you any long-term stats. Yes there will be a scar, but it's in (or right above) your navel. There has been no incision pain whatsoever in my case, only my abdomen aches and feels sorta sore like after a hard core workout. Yes, the single incision is based on bmi (and even height in some cases, I have read). Under 40 bmi, if I am not mistaken. The consensus seems to be that if you have scars from a previous surgery, fairer skin, stretch marks etc. then it might not make much sense to bother with the vanity of a single cut. But if your tummy might be showoff-worthy after your weight loss, then I say go for it. It remains to be seen whether I am one of the lucky ones :) Good luck, whatever you choose.

I had the single incision sleeve in October and it went great! They made the incision inside my belly button and I can't see the scar or anything. I can feel it when I stick my finger in there but I can't see anything when I try to bend down and look in there lol. My husband can't even tell where they cut me. The recovery way easy and I didn't have any stitches but they did use glue to close the incision and that eventually fell out and it did itch a little. I'm happy I have the one incision :)

I was over a 40 BMI and I'm only 5'3. I'm not sure if it can be performed on a people with long torso's. This was also my first surgery so he didn't have to worry about scar tissue or anything. The single incision is mostly cosmetic because it hides the scars and the fact that you've had surgery. I don't plan on wearing a bikini but I feel that I have enough stretch marks and discoloration and I didn't want to add to that. It does increase your risk of a hernia but I haven't had any problems.

I'm 2days post op and have a single incision as well. Glad that there won't be scares. Just trying to recover, this has been very painful, but it won't be like this forever

I also had a single incision. When my surgeon said that he wanted to do that on me I asked why and he said it was because I was only 5'4 (shorter torso). It didnt say it had anything to do with my BMI, just my height. Anyway, no incision pain, barely a scar and it healed fast.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
