Too Tight or is This Band-Life?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I got my second fill 3 weeks ago, and for the first time have restriction, so I'm not sure what is normal or not normal.

Upon waking in the morning, I have to sip liquids or they "hang" a bit. Hot tea is what I drink and that goes down fine. I can't eat anything solid until lunch, after a few cups of tea. In the evenings, I can eat fine.

Is this too tight or just normal band weirdness??

Hey Leener! I know restriction varies with everone, but that sounds pretty normal to me. It is not uncommon to be tighter in the morning, I find that I am also. I usually have fairly thin oatmeal or just a Protein Drink. As long as you can eat a healthy variety of foods at lunch and dinner I think you are okay. There isnt much besides bread that causes me problems by lunch or dinner, but my first cup of morning coffee or tea really just gurgles through slowly. You are able to do lunch and dinner without problems?

Hi leenerbups,

This sounds exactly like mine. My problem is that I can eat almost anything in the evening and am usually hungry. Then there are days that I can eat almost anything I want, bread included and quite a large amount. Regular portion sizes. Is that normal??? Then I will be back to being too tight to eat anything but liquid. Sooooo, is this just the way it will be from now on??

as long as you are able to eat solids without PBing on them on a regular basis and you are able to drink liquids with no problem this is normal. Many bandsters can not eat until later in the day.

I have a similar question and need some advice. I just had my second fill Tues. I have only been back to eating regular foods for a few days. I keep waiting to feel full. I haven't yet. BUT, tonight while eating some chicken, I guess I had my first experience with PBing. I felt like a golf ball was caught in my chest. It was extemely painful. I drank and little Water and burped a lot. If I could have, I would have thrown up. I understand that chicken can be difficult, though in the 10 weeks of band life I hadn't experienced it. I guess the fill has given me some restriciton that I wasn't aware of. My question is, does this mean I shouldn't get another fill for a while? I keep looking for some kind of feeling of fulness when I eat. Instead, I quite after about 3/4 cup of food. I'm trying to follow my doctors instructions. I would really like to experience a feeling of being satisfied when I eat. Is the feeling of fulness different and I'm just not reading the signals? I certainly don't want to PB again. All advice would be appreciated.

I have a question for those that have a band that holds 4cc. I would like to know what everyone's sweet spot is that has a 4cc band. I have got 2 fills and I am already at 3cc. So I am wondering where everyone else is. I got 2.3cc on my first fill and .7 on my second fill.

leenerbups-sounds like your completely normal...lunch/dinner is fine.

kareyquilts-I think in your case just chew more...chicken is difficult...you have to literally chew and chew also helps to have some liquid based sauce like dish to help 'glide' the chicken down...If you don't fee fullness yet...go bak to your filler and get another one...my dr recommends I get adjustments every month or so.

mlg2007-I also have a 4cc band and I am on 3.5 now but still would'nt say its my 'sweet' spot..still I am loosing weight with a little self discipline...dang!

i dont eat in the am. too tight. i drink a few protien shakes during the day and lots of Water. at nite i eat a good salad and usually chicken or salmon. i also keep the chicken moist and chew chew chew. i cant eat bread of crackers, they will get stuck. fine by me, pizza made me fat . im glad i cant eat it. if i get somethig stuck i drink alot of water and puke it up till it becomes unstuck, not good to do, so i try to never get anything stuck.

I'm also too tight and dry in the morning to consider anything but liquids. I've had a few too many golf ball incidents at work and now only have a shake at lunch.

dinner is a different story. I'm home, I'm relaxed and more in control of what I eat and how long I can sit and eat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
