Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

I would take it, but the shipping would be a pain.

Anyway. We moved today into our new place  and are exhausted! But I am so glad and I really feel that it is where God wants us right now. Everything is just falling into place.

I'm so happy for you! I know that is a good feeling - to be where you feel you should be.

Sorry for the late post. I was down .8 this week. :w00t:

Congrats! You're still going in the right direction! Good for you!

Anyone interested in a Red Robin night? September 8th, Tuesday night? Or would Wednesday night, the 9th be better?

Let me know! Thanks!!!

I'd like to do a Red Robin night on the 8th. Maybe you guys can go through my clothes in the parking lot to see what you want. Otherwise, you can come to my house and try stuff on. I live in Aurora.

Speaking of clothes.....

I have been hitting all the resale shops (Unique, Goodwill. etc) looking for clothes. I am desperatley in need of jeans. I'm not even sure what size I wear!! All I know is I started out in a 32 and they got wayyyy too big  I have a pair from Catherines that are a 9. They can't seem to tell you there what that equates to in "real" sizes <grrrrr> these pants are getting too big for me too.

Anway (finally getting to the point of this post) I went to Goodwill yesterday and found a pair of jeans size 28-30. I was just going to buy them, and decided at the last minute to try them on. They were too big!!!!!!! I have never, in proabably the last 20 years, had to put something back because it was too big!! I was quite thrilled at this. Wow...this may be how "normal" people shop, huh?

Just wanted to share.

Hey ladies! I'm purging my closet of all things that don't fit me anymore. I have a variety of sizes, from 20-24 pants and skirts to tops from 2x and 3x to 22/24 and 26/28. A few items are brand new. Anyone want any of it before I donate it all?

well, no one will have anything left when i arrive in november, but keep me in mind for any kind of tops/blouses that might be around then. I can't make my mind let me wear clothes that "touch" which makes my mom crazy!! But I will keep y'all posted before the november date.

things here with mom....not so good.

I had my hysterectomy four years ago and with abdominal surgery you get what's called "swelly belly." At first it would swell as much as 5" a day. It was very annoying. It doesn't do it too much anymore and I don't regret it for a moment. Mind you, I didn't get the Tummy Tuck at the same time, so no support wraps, just my trusty pillow. I would totally get my breasts lifted, but no implants, don't need them. Just be nice if they didn't point towards the ground like torpedoes. So, go for it and get excited you will love how you look!

I had a CT scan today. Still having this pain in my left side and back. I have been assured that it is not my band, so since there are no masses, CT scan. I had to drink two bottles of barium. I cannot recommend this at all. It was berry flavored. I have no idea what kind of berry they were aiming for. They also injected me with this stuff to highlight the urinary tract and said I would feel some "warmth." Actually, it makes you feel like you've wet your pants, only you haven't. That was just very odd. I find out the results tomorrow. I doubt they will find anything. I have had so many tests and they can't figure it out. Then I give up and it flares up again and I go back. I have family history, so I can't ignore it. But it's annoying none the less.

On the upside, my GERD has receded finally. It's hardly bothering me at all and I haven't had a PVC in days. I am on full liquids for another week. I am mostly complying. It's a pain as they bring in Bagels and donuts to work all the time. I am supposed to attend a luncheon tomorrow, but I can't eat anything there, so I'll just be setting up. People at work know about my band, so I just tell them I can't have something and they don't question it and are very supportive.

This weekend is crazy. Moving my daughter into college and working a booth at the Taste of Colorado. The only time I have for you to try things before the Red Robin night would be the afternoon of that day. I could be home from work by about 2pm. If you want to do it then, give me a call. 303-669-2350. I have three bags of clothes.

Actually I meant before Red Robin (sorry for being unclear :blushing:), though I may have to take you up on when you get home on Tuesday instead. Not sure if I am going to be able to make it to RR. I got an email from the PTCO saying there was a community meeting that night. I am torn. I really want to make RR, because I feel it does me a world of good coming to these meetings, but I really should do the mommy thing and go to this meeting. They are teaching the "everyday math" thingy. (as if "new math" wasn't enough when we were kids)

I'll update as to what I am going to do after I make up my mind.

what size tops/blouses do you like? I can save some for you. You're still a much smaller size than I am. I'll be in town, I canceled that trip to MN. So I'm happy now!

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Very sorry and very sad.

I found 3 pairs of brand new, tags still on, jeans in my closet. They are way too big on me! I tried to take them to Plato's Closet, but the largest size they accept is 18. I'll check the size and let you know if they are something you could use. You're welcome to them. However, you might have to hem them a little. I think they are Talls.:tt2:

Yep, besides I know the 8th works better for others. I might just "forget" about the meeting on the 8th at the school.

That whould be great... and soooo appreciated. I went to Catherines today and hit the Clearance rack. Got a pair of jeans for a decent price. The ones that are too big for me are a 9 Red. These are actually a 7 Blue (if you know anything at all about the crazy numbering system at Catherines/Lane Bryant) And adding to that.... they are actually a petite. I have NEVER worn a petite before. I think my legs have gotten shorter!!!! The chart there said a 7 is comparable to a 24. I didn't believe that. I still can't squeeze my big belly into a 26, let alone a 24!!!! I asked the girl at the store and she said that chart is off. (I would say wayyyyy off).

Still dreaming of the day I can get into a "real" size 7!!!

My legs appear shorter too, but I think it's because of the hanging skin. If I wear the Spanx and pull everything up where it belongs (I know, bad visual) I fit in a Tall - if not, I need a regular. It's not so good!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
