Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Good morning! Is everyone (local) enjoying this nice cool down? We really got some weather yesterday! In our area we got a lot of everything but rain. Crazy Colorado! But I love it! It's better than the hot or hotter of Phoenix!

Well, the scale has yet to move further. I'm beginning to question this lap band and myself. I think the only thing that will work for me is to have my mouth permenently sewn shut. I really hope that the 10th brings me a change of attitude. At first I seemed to be ahead of my goals. Now I'm behind. I wonder sometimes if there is anything in there.

Well, the 12th will be here before we know it. Dynamo~ I'm just great with Red Robbin again. I enjoyed everything that night. The company, the food, the service. (mostly the company!) I bought some new ink for my printer (lordy that expensive) so that I can bring some pictures. I can't seem to find my already done pictures since I moved. I know they are here somewhere, just don't know where. (I know they are here because I didn't let the movers touch them!)

Have a great day!:ranger:

This is my day to whine.

I'm up four pounds. The cheesecake and lasagna didn't help but I ran out of my lasix (water pills) so I'm sure that didn't help either.

My taste buds have returned. I actually DID want Doritos.

That old paranoia is rearing its ugly head (you won't lose the weight, see, you're going back to old habits) and all the self talk that goes with it.

To make matters worse, my sister is off on workman's comp and cannot get a buddy pass for me and Patrick. I don't have the money to fly to Denver right now so I can't come out there for a fill.

I'm dealing with some seriously discouragement right now.

Woofay and Lapdancer~ WOW gals so sorry to hear that you are both facing some tough times. Woofay, I often wonder if there is anything in there too, from the begining...I often thought he just cut me open and didn' put the band in??? I haven't really felt much different, but agian I haven't had a fill yet. I am wondering if I should ask for a larger fill, I know he is very conservative with his fills. I have heard of people that only take a couple of fills and they are good, I wih I could be one of those gals. I also heard that some take many...up to five or six??? Hang in there, maybe you gals need the extra few fills.

I found this book ( I bought the book on CD), it is supposed to help us with the defining the body and the mind. "Emotional surgery", I just started it, but if any one would be interested in a copy, let me know (shhhh). The book is called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, I actually read about him on one of the other threads here.

Lapdancer, I wish there were something I could do to get you here for your fill. Maybe one of her work buddys could sell you a buddy pass?? I hope your sis is okay too.

Thinking about you gals!!!

Hello lovelies of the Dr K thread!

I am doing great here. I skated again on Tuesday and will skate again tonight. PT was supposed to end last week but they want me to continue for 3 more weeks since I still can't fully straighten my knee. So now I am going once a week for soft tissue work... basically massage. I ahve my first session tonight and I am looking forward to it! I see my ortho doc again on th 12th and am hoping to be released back to practice. I am DYING to get back in the action!

I would like to clarify my fill issue for those who are confused. I *think* I have 2.5ish in my band right now. Since my last TOM I have been much tighter and am having trouble getting down the good-for-me foods, chicken, steak and sometimes even yogurt! I'm not sure if the heat has attributed it my tighter restriction or not. I am PB'ing a few times a week and am sick and tired of it. I have lost the 14 pounds I put on after my knee surgery but still hunger for onderland. Once I get back to practice and am skating 6 hours a week again I will need better nutrition for sure.

I hope this make sense and clears up the confusion!

:faint: The Pep Talk

Okay friends, we can do this! We deserve a healthy life, we have done this a gazillion times before, we can do it better this time through!

:car: The Whine

That said, coming off vacation sucks. I feel like I am rattling around a house I am not connected to. I feel lost in space.

:hungry: Overeating 101

What happened to my eating patterns that I had really firmed up? I am recording everything that I put into my mouth but I am no longer making the best food choices. Those four kisses that I scarfed before 10 am are an example. So I super cleaned the kitchen in order to de-sweet my visual triggers and throw away crap food.

:whoo::whoo: The Gym

Went to the gym yesterday for an hour. It was good to sweat and feel positive energy about my commitment.

:think Lap Dancer

I will totally miss you. Can you get a buddy ticket from someone else? You have an invitation to stay with me. Maybe you can bring your son the next visit to reduce the cost??? Don't give up on yourself. You can do this, you deserve a healthy life! You are so creative and high energy make that work for your self-care.

:rolleyes Woofay

It is you and me babe, we planned for the band to do the job, poop, it doesn't. :angry This is a great disappointment to me too. I thought it was all going to be different once I had the band, now some things are more realistic. I need to be much tighter than I am now to force me to eat less :hungry:, but beyond that I have to recommit to myself and to a program of health and well being.

:sick The Headwork (oy vie)

This is the damn head work! Do I really deserve a "normal" life? What do I have to give up in order to be (feel) like other people? What do I have to give up in order to think like other people? What do I have to give up in order to behave like other people? Am I willing to change?

:) :) :) :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug: :girl_hug:

The Hugs - because we really need them!

I chose weight as my life's problem to resolve. I now choose health and well-being as my goal and my focus. So, with your support, I know I can do this really challenging thing, give up some parts that are holding me back and move into the new or underdeveloped parts that will create my future.

Tears? Certainly.

Hard work? Yes

Cheers? You bet.

Friends who really "get" me? Thank you.

Drews - you and I were writing at the same time. Can you come on the 12th? I would love to see you. You are such an integral part of our healing. You are successful, our role model. I know it is heavy, but I sure hope you can be there.

Hugs,

Michelle

I'm hoping that I'm up to making it to Red Robin...I don't really want to go through the thread though and get directions, can someone please post directions for me...and remember we're Alaskans...we don't speak that North, South, East, West stuff we say "left, right, up, down". Thanks!

marcy - it is really easy to get to the Red Robin. Where are you staying? The directions will vary based on that. When is your surgery? Perhaps someone else can drive you? Let me know where you are coming from and then I can give you good directions. You must be getting really excited!

Good Morning to all of you! Hope your day brings you much happiness, it is going to be really HOT here and for the weekend too.

Hugs,

Michelle

Marcy,

Sounds like your friend lives very close to me. I guess it depends on where in Aurora, we like to name the streets the same in different areas...I am in the zip code 0f 80015, Centennial!! If you are close, you can ride with me if you want?!?!

Mal - it's actually NOT my sister's place...it's her friends' place (ok, my friends too, but more HER friends than mine). They are in zip code 80016 if that's helpful.

I appreciate all the "local" support!

I'm doing well on my pre-op diet...lost 9 lbs. in 5 days, not bad...I have to admit that I'd really like some starch though! We went to the beach tonight and had a cook-out. I was able to have a hot dog, but no chips, no marshmallows...dang! I was cookin' em for the kids though and that was fun! My poor daughter was COVERED in sand!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
