Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

The unpizza.

My son works at a pizzeria. He makes for me a pizza that has a crust so thin it is more like a cracker. On this he puts parmesan cheese followed by mushrooms and bacon pieces. On this he puts mozerella cheese. He bakes it well done and sops off the bacon grease.

This has been like a supersonic power bar for me. Going down easy, chews up fabulously and I can save the leftovers for Breakfast ( I love cold pizza) if they have left me with leftovers.

Lap Dancer~Thanks for sharing your daily diet. That sounds like how I will be doing it too. Protien shake for breakfast, lunch and early afternoon, then some meat for dinner. Looks like you are doing AWESOME! Good for you!

I am on my third day of the pre-op diet, high protien and low/no carbs. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am more of a protien eater, but to tell me that I can't have carbs, kinda makes me want them even more!! I just had a turkey burger (no bun) with swiss cheese, mushrooms and chives...I can't believe that one filled me??, well for now, I'm sure I'll be hungry in few! I love the Atkins shakes, I wonder can you drink too many of them? I think it is going to be hard going from the high protien to the liquids! I have heard that some people go out and have a big meal the night before their surgery...does that mean we can have "anything"?

Mal - you are doing a really good job. I haven't posted my before pictures either. On May 16 I will take my one month pictures and see if there is any noticeable changes. I think I look better. Maybe I'm just proud of myself.

Lap Dancer - Thanks for sharing your food. You are kinda of doing Optifast, with all the Protein Shakes. I admire you. You are doing really well, keep it up. I got hungry reading the pizza ingredients, I've been eating a salad for lunch with 1/2 white Beans, 2 oz chicken, 1 oz turkey bacon and chopping it up with a drizzle of FF Honey Dijon. Yum

I have to go have a shake. I only have one a day because I am eating food for my meals. Maybe I am just eating too many calories. But it is so much less than before. I think I will schedule a meeting with the nutritionist.

Hugs and enjoy your Sunday evening,

Michelle

Good evening all! Okay, here is something....it's snowing big time at my house...what is today??? May 6?!

I read all your posts about the chewing and things backing up...I have to be honest. I haven't had that problem at all. About the first 8 days if I drank too much or gulped too big, I could feel like a golf ball feeling in my lower throat, but since I have been on solid foods, I've had no problems whatsoever. I used to read those posts about the "doctor forgetting to put it in" and I used to laugh. But right now it simply feels like I am on a diet. Nothing more. I'm kinda scared about having the fill done because I know I eat too fast and I certainly don't chew enough. I haven't tried bread, but I bet it would be fine. (I'm not a big bread eater)

I'm hoping the fill changes everything for me, because right now it doesn't seem like I've been banded. (besides all the obvious!) Maybe I feel full a little sooner, but I'm not even sure I feel satisified or anything like that. This sounds crazy, and I'm sorry. Maybe I'm just feeling a little let down at myself because the scale hasn't been moving and I can still eat too much. You all are doing so well, it almost sounds like you don't even need a fill yet. Mine is Monday the 14th and I'm not sure it can come soon enough. Before the scale starts making tracks upwards!

Woofay (anita) - Hi, you know there are moments that I have felt like you - where is the band? But other times (described above) the golfball is there. So I think I will go ahead with the fill on the 17th. I think by then I will be going crazy if I haven't lost any weight.

I am making a commitment to exercise 5 days this week. I started today. I think the metabolism needs a revving up.

Hugs all and hope to see whoever can show on Tuesday,

Michelle

Well, we'll have some events to compare and share! Just a few days apart! I think that Angie and Tater have fills that week too.

I guess I need to exercise too. I really, really hate it. I did Curves for 2 years and lost inches but really not that much weight. I need to do something again. I have the neatest neighbor that goes to the gym all the time. She's always trying to get me to go with her. Maybe I'll take her up on it. She's one of the few people that know I had this done. Gotta do something to move the scale!

Well, try and see you Tues! :)

Anita,

What Dynmo said regarding the warrantee was the exact same with me, at my one week check-up got a post op bad, it had the card inside.

Not sure if I will be at the meeting tomorrow! Depends on our crazy weather here.

Lapdancer,

I wish i was losing like you! I have not lost a pound since week 1. I am not eating much so I figure my body is adjusting. Let's hope!

I am glad that i am not the only slow loser... but it still seems I have lost less then everyone else. =( Dynamo, I am going to make a commitment to exercise 5 days this week, I will walk on my treadmill for thirty minutes everyday! Thanks for the boost! Please keep me accountable. Then on Friday I will do the "scale check" see if it made a difference. My fill is May 18. I am counting down the days.

Hi Angie! Ya, I really haven't lost anything after about day 8 or 9. And I am a freak with the scale too. I weigh too often. Almost completely flung it out the window yesterday. Guess that's why the solomn post from last night. Did you get a nice pile of snow? We did. Kids on a 2 hour delay today. I'm going to try and make it. Woo hoo. But like you said, it does have to do with the weather. I'll have to ask the office about the bag after surgery. I don't even know what the rules are for the fill. Was there any info in there about what he wants us to do with fills? food, no food, liquids after?

Girls hang in there, I promise its going to come off. I would hit spots and stay there for a couple weeks, then I would weigh and 10 to 12 pounds would be off. I did slow way down right before I needed my first fill, actually I gained two pounds, but after the fill....ewww look out baby...it fell off. My dr is really good about filling it tight too so that probably helped me alot. I am needing another fill the middle of May but am going to push it back until June. Tying to walk and stay away from the food until then. My surgery was Jan 29 and have lost 54 pounds so far and moving slow since April 17 when I was at 49 gone. So everyone hang in there...we'll get there!

Angie, I feel for you, I was stuck at a 6 pound loss for three weeks but hang in there.

I live in Oklahoma now, but I used to live in Fort Collins. Blow the mountains a kiss for me...biggest mistake I 've ever made, leaving the mountains!

Anita I haven't had my first fill and frankly I think I'm going to wait. I'm losing weight at a steady pace and doing fine but I too am scared. I learned a lesson with the cat hack think that happened but I still feel I swallow to fast at times.

Who was it that was getting a root canal today? I hope your doing well. I think I might need one soon. I have the worst tooth ache, it's swollen, I have such bad luck with my teeth..ouch!

I'll see you all tomorrow night, if my tooth doesn't drive me to the dentist for an emergency appointment.

Anyone know how many carbs we can have ont the pre-op diet?

Hi MAL! It's me with the root canal this lovely morning! It's at 9. Woo hoo! This one is weird because this tooth doesn't hurt, but the x-rays show infection deep within. My other root canals had a lot of pain before hand. And here I thought that I was the root canal queen! Hope your tooth simmers down before tonight!

Alert the media! My scale moved a whole pound this morning! (do you hear the chorus?) Woo hoo!

There is supposedly a very small chance of rain tonight, so for right now, I'll be there!

Have a great day and I'll let you know how this tooth is later today.

;)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
