Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

To Deb: Take care of Grace (Gracie) I take care of George. Feel better.

Julie: Yes, I have had the same thing and I tracked what I ate in combination and discovered after banding I no longer could tolerate certain foods. Nothing dramatic would happen but I just didn't feel normal and that alone gave me a panic. I cut stuff from my diet. That helped. and Queso blows through me. Try going bland for three days, oatmeal that is cooled down with a little milk so it is more like porage. Bananas. thin sliced turkey, room temp Water. See if that helps.

My fill went great. It was awesome to see everyone. I had the chance to talk to Dr. K about all the ..and a partridge in a pear tree.. stuff going on with my body. He advised me to CRUSH MY pills and didn't we have that talk before. So I have a pill crusher and have been doing so since. I'm not taking in enough Protein so I'm switching to Premiere Protein Drink and DEE WHERE DO I BUY IT? I don't have a costco.< /p>

I am unpacking. My family missed me. My cats missed me more. My dog Big Ed was right up against me this morning. Ahhh the bliss of my fur babies. They are my joy.

We must do a trip. I am all for going to Black Hawk or wherever. I require a good bed. Other than that..eh. Fun is my main goal.

Thanks for a great time.

Dee. I'm up 5 lbs. All that french onion Soup each night must have kicked my butt.

Patty---

Thanks for the reassurance. I really don't think this is food related though, I was just hoping maybe the queso swelled up my stomach or something. (clutching at straws here... ya know???) The pain is just like the pain I had when I was first banded... when Dr M told me the band was "seating". That is why I am so afraid of this pain.

Dee----

I was down .8 last week, and up 1.8 this week. If I do not need a complete unfill, perhaps these days of liquids will help my loss, huh??

I forgot to mention.... even mashed potatoes are causing me pain. I tried to eat them and I don't even like potatoes!!!

Julie,

Are fluids going down ok? Is that causing you pain? First of all stay hydrated. If you haven't slipped and you are just very tight all of the sudden then stress could make that worse.

I would call the doctor. If not today then first thing Moday morning and stay on liquids. Again stay hydrated and get some protien drinks to keep strong. You don't want to stop calorie intake or else by the time you get to the doctor you will be weak. Sometimes it takes a few days...even up to two weeks for my fill to really hit its full power. That could be the case. I think that being too tight is a possiblity.

Keep us informed. I know that I don't post much, but I do follow along. Take care.

I spoke too soon!

Dee, amend yesterday's entry: put me down for -8.6!!!!!

Just being around all you lovely ladies in Denver jump started my metabolism!!!:tt2::drool::lol:

Oh My Goodness Deb!!! You now have to amend your goal! You're almost there!!!! That's insane! I'm so happy for you!!! You have .6 to go and you're at goal! Did you up your Protein intake?

I don't know if it was my 3 days of eating (I didn't eat a whole lot at one time... just more cals to try to jump start my metabolism) but I think my band has slipped . I am so upset about this. I am seeing my surgeon on Tuesday for a "fill" I may be getting a complete unfill.

I really am hoping the cheeseburger con queso I had at RR Wed night just irritated my stomach (though it's not super spicy, I don't do spicy...at all)

Starting Thursday morning, every time I try to eat something solid I get a lot of dull (but intense... if that makes any sense) pain in the band area, as well as pain at the top of my shoulders (mainly on the left side). The pain is only upon swallowing, then it goes right away. No nausea, no reflux, no throwing up. I am tolerating liquids just fine.

I did have this happen once before (a couple of months ago, for a day) but then it went away without any intervention. It has gotten marginally better since Thursday... but is still definetely painful to eat.

I am so afraid I have messed it up. I just don't know what I am going to do if I lose it.

Has anyone else had, or know of anyone having, this type of pain and it was nothing major????

julie

Wow Julie, I don't know what to tell you! I think it's best to wait and see what the doc says. Keep hydrated and drink your Proteins, don't try to push solids in case you are slipped. The liquids are best.
Holy crap Deb! Good for you...bad for me...I seem to have gained the two pounds I lost the week before.

Yup, put me down for +2. Booooooo!

Uh oh! Hormones maybe?

To Deb: Take care of Grace (Gracie) I take care of George. Feel better.

I love the Premier Nutrition drinks! They are so low in cals and carbs and soooo high in protein! I haven't ever seen them anywhere but Costco. Look online and see if they can find where else you can buy them. Do you think that the french onion soup was too high in sodium? I can't do a lot of Soups because of the sodium content. I'm extremely sensitive to sodium! I'm glad you and Deb made it home safely!

Julie,

I am drinking Protein shakes/protein smoothies to stay hydrated. This definetly isn't a post fill tightness.... I haven't had a fill since Thanksgiving week. How the heck did my band know I was planning on getting a fill on Tuesday??

I am just hoping for the best.

Mem620 - 8lbs

Snow - 5lbs

I only lost a pound, but it's TOM time!

Dee, please mark me down for -2, thanks!

So I thought I would get some advise from you ladies. After my fill in April, I was eating fine, nice restriction. Then after my Father passed away I was super tight, liquids only, coughing up/choking on liquids at night, vomiting at least 3 times a week. Well, it has gotten a bit better. I am eating normal foods again, trying to not eat slider foods(though some days are bad cuz I am an emotional eater). but I am still having the problem of bad reflux all day and night and choking at night. I changed what time I would stop eating and drinking before bed, and make sure my pouch is empty for an hour or so before bed - no liquids.I use chewable antacid. But this reflux is killing me!!! I figured my fill was great and it is just stress making it bad, but I am worried about a slip. I have lost abt 15 lbs since my last fill and am in a good place, if I can stop those slider foods. You guys have any problems with reflux? :tongue_smilie:

Lotza,

I have the same thing!!! I find taking one tums at night just before bed helps a lot, I also bought a wedge shaped pillow to elevate my head a bit.

I think what I am learning is that I was a stress eater before the band, and now when I am stressed I feel the acid. It does not bother me nearly as much when I am relaxed about life.

I have been doing more liquids, Protein Drinks, Soups, and that makes it easier also.

hang in there!

We had a great time! It was really fun!

Here are some pictures!

Dee and Patty, Deb and Dee, Mary & Patty & Mal & Deb & Laptastic & Julie & Dee~

Thanks for posting the photos - you all look fantastic!!!

Wanted to share a NSV. I bought several, okay FIVE, new swimsuits, and have been canoeing every week in Cherry Creek reservoir. Somthing I NEVER would have done before. I feel like quite the macho Colorado chick with a canoe on top of my car!

Dee, I haven't had much time to post, but I haven't lost anything anyway. Put me down for a big fat ZERO for both weeks....too many grad parties and no will power.

Thanks! I have been taking a chewable rolaids before bed, and it really does help. I think I really need to stay hydrated since Water goes down, I know that would help too. I have been falling back on Protein Shakes and Soup too.

Great Mem! Down 1.5 lbs is good! Very good! I am glad the Wii Fit is working for you! I was worried that I hadn't seen you online, but then I remembered you had visitors at your home this weekend!

I hope you had a good weekend!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
