Not happy with this before and after pic

Recommended Posts

I'm upset in comparing these before and after pics. The left one is day before surgery and the right is today. My husband made me feel bad. He said he didn't see much of a difference. I haven't been on the scale since 1 week post op. My surgery date was 2-19-2013. At that time I had lost 19 lbs. Do you see a loss or change??de14

Yes honey, their is a very noticeable difference, congrats BariatricBeautie....keep up your good work

I am finding the people we see often (every day at work) are seeing less of a loss. I met friends today for lunch and they had not seen me in a couple months and they definitely noticed.

What!?!? Perhaps your husband doesn't notice it because he sees you daily...??? Idk, but I can definitely see a difference in your before and after photos! You are clearly losing inches!!! Chin up and keep doing what you are doing, because its working for you! ;)

I see a difference- give it time

My ultimate goal is to get my mother in law to notice my weight loss. She doesn't know about the surgery but complains because I don't eat or drink like I did. I have lost 55 pounds and she hasn't said anything about it. I am half way to goal and not one word.

Hey mich grand..I found that those that had known me over time, quit saying anything for a long, long time. I think i went up and down so often, they didnt really know what to say. One time i would be down a ton and the next, back to an even higher weight! It took a bigger weight loss each time to get comments.

OP... Please take your measurements regularly. I cannot tell you how important that is. As you move along, there will be plateaus. We tend to lose some, take some time to do an internal readjustment then lose more. When people on here suggest we not weigh every day, they know how disappointing it is to see no change on the scale. The fact is, during those plateau times, our body is changing....thus the measurements! Yeah...weigh like every saturday morning, but each month log those measurements and do a new pic! When the scale does not move, remeasure, or just remind youself that this is part of the process.

And men! Man...cant live with em and cant live without em! He could be standing there looking at you, as the person he loves, wearing the same top he has seen you in before and really sees no change because he was not looking at your fat to begin with. He sees the wife he loves and the woman that keeps him happy! If he looked at those pics the way we are and still says that, then there needs to be a conversation because anyone with an eye and a brain can see the change in side beside pics!

Some people just say what the thought is in their head without thinking about the impact it will have. They call it truth to justify their insensitivity or their immaturity or whatever. Sometimes theres just no explanation other than theyre men! Sorry guys... But some men just have the "no clue" gene in spades and never get it when the partner breaks down in tears.

And along the way, other people may also not be totally complimentary so you need to become more secure in your own self evaluation based on how you feel, look, move, on energy level, etc... And let the other less than kind comments roll off. Closer to goal theyll be saying you look sick your so thin!

Best wishes. Hang in there! Youre doing an amazing job!

I am one day behind you, DOS 2/20. My man is an idiot also and says the same thing. I'm down clothing sizes and he says, "nah, no difference." Seriously?!

It wasn't until I had lost around 45 lbs that anyone noticed.

It didn't bother me too much because it isn't for them and their opinion of me.

Also, your overall shape doesn't change that much unless you really get down to lower numbers. People glance at you and see your shape is the same. If you wear baggy clothes, they can't see the results very easily.

Don't be sad at all. As time passes it will be much more noticeable to others.

You look great! I couldn't stand not weighing myself once in a while. It's the only way I am sure, that and my clothes are falling off me!

You just had your surgery wtf. Did he expect it to just be gone over night? It took time to get that big so its going to take time to lose it. You should only take pics at intervals of 3 months. Why because you will see the dramatic difference.

I swear its our spouses that have the biggest envy issues

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
