And what do you know I caught the cold my kids have been circling, I can't reach my doc but I'm miserable I got a cough, runny nose, pain and aching Everywere! Has anybody gone through this?? Can I take medicine? Like DayQuil, any other over the counter medicines??

I'm one week post op with the same symptoms I caught from my daughter ... I called the doc... It didn't really help said to take Tylenol and wait it out make sure to stay hydrated and a heating pad is helping me on my knees back and neck... Ugh can't wait til this over ... It's affecting my Protein intake

Yes, been there, done that with a cold three weeks following surgery in July 2012 and 3 more since including the worst flu ever in January 2013. You should be able to take the OTC meds like DayQuil, AlcaSeltzer and others. However, I agree you should have a quick chat with your doctor before taking them. I found cold and flu OTC meds to work the best both during the day and at night. NyQuil really helped at night.

I take zicam that helps shorten or alleviate the symptoms. best to ask your doc first though...

I had a headache and I called the Dr. they said liquid Tylenol...just to give you heads up..don't make it anymore! After 9 stores I found out Tylenol cold and throat is liquid Tylenol for adults. It just has cool mint flavor to soothe. I was using children's which didn't work.

I checked with doctor. I take a Zyrtec everynight. When sick I take Zytec-D twice a day. They also said Mucinex is safe. Also Afrin Menthol is awsome and opens your nose right up. Good luck.
