Oh no way... You're a lightweight. I'm a big girl. You wouldn't dare mess with me in person! ;) lol

Honestly, I do see both sides. Well, without the mean and hurtful parts (from both sides), but it's a really emotional topic for all of us here so things can get heated quickly!!

Cool - u were in the back of my mind throughout the whole discussion. My friend is the complete opposite from me and is telling no one. I on the other hand am an open book and love talking and learning about what to expect - good and bad.

My friend just got back to Perth Australia yesterday, and said she doesn't regret mx for a min and has had minimal pain and discomfort - sounds like she is one of the luckier ones - ESP for having to travel so far afterwards.

I have never been one to be mean to someone but I will def stick up for myself. It was heated but my weight is my one super sensitive spot! Lol

I know, it pretty much is the sensitive spot for all of us here. And as I've gotten to know you, I could see where you are coming from but sometimes your meaning gets lost in your words.

I don't agree with how some things were said to you, but I do get it. For me, this can literally save my life. It's not preventative, it's necessary to save me. And while I understand why you want and need this surgery too, you do have to be sensitive to the fact that a lot of us have a GOAL in the range of a 30 BMI. I think that's why it's sometimes hard to understand someone with such a low BMI opting for surgery, even though it is actually obese. But I also understand that by doing this now, you can save yourself from ending up at my weight in another 10 years.

And lastly, I think therapy is an important factor in our total health through this process. This is a MAJOR life change and I advocate (and utilize) pre-op therapy as well as post-op!! Even as someone who's been through weight loss surgery before, I need the extra support to deal with the changes and my food issues.

But I'm happy to see the everyone had pretty much made up before I joined and now it's just a narcotics trampoline party! ;)

Yes totally agree on future help with all the changes I have to make. I'm putting most of my money towards saving for this trip now. I will do some research for the best suited help for my friend and I for when we get home.

I do realise that I'm sure some people would be quite happy w my body - but I also see woman MUCH smaller than me (after surgery) on these different sites & on you tube after their surgery. And I'd go so far to say some look a little on the verg of getting too small. 1 lady said she will have a cocktail once a week to up her calories to try and maintain and not loose anymore. Also I hear u can get diff sizes of sleeves (stomach left)- so I would go for one a few mm larger - I can't remember the name the call it? My goal is to maintain a healthy diet and weight range. When I tried WW I was dumbfounded at the small amount of food humans were supposed to consume to loose weight. I didn't even last 2 days. Lol

You're thinking of the bougie, I think. Most surgeons these days use somewhere between a 32 and a 40, although larger ones are sometimes used in specific situations, I understand.

My surgeon said the difference in volume of the sleeve with a 32 vs a 40 is almost negligable, for what it's worth.

I have no hunger pains, but I am less than 2 weeks out. The VSG is the ultimate tool for my weight loss. I went to all my classes and did all my researching. I was a BMI of 37, but had a secondary condition.

There is no American doctor that would do a BMI of 30.

I will say this, it's your body and your paying for it, you can do what ever you want.

I am sure in the long run after the surgery you will feel better about yourself.

It should be noted that their is a huge psychological part to this surgery.

Good luck and make sure you come back to the forum to give us updates

Little moe to add, after surgery walk, walk walk. This seems to be one thing everyone has in common.

I was really surprised having hardly any pain from the surgery.

Gas pains are the worst. Walking will help a lot.

I didn't use my pain meds when I left the hospital. I do however take a liquid Prilosec and a anti nausea med.

these are two very helpful meds. Check with your doctor in Mexico to see if you get these.

You had to continue to use the anti nausea? I thought that was just from the anaesthesia when u first have the surgery? I had a breast reduction 10 years ago but that's the only time I've been put under - I don't remember nausea ... But it was a long time ago

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
