I have a question. I love my morning coffee. Are any of you coffee drinkers? I know after surgery I can only have Decaf. Are there any of the Protein Drinks that taste like coffee that would be a good substitute in the morning? That's really the only time I crave  one!!

I drink coffee. not in the quantities that I once did. They are worried about gastritis. If it doesnt bother you after surgery Sam told me it was ok. However, some can never tolerate it.

Hi everyone!

Meg - I had the same problem with the realize site! I couldn't put my food in, so after a while, I just stopped. Sam told me he asks for his sign on, but has not yet received. (FYI Caelyn Sam is the St. Francis nutrionist - If you are going through Christiana you will have either Regina or a man I have not met)

Caelyn - I have head that some of the Protein drinks come in coffee and some folks really love it. I am not a coffee drinker.

Things are going well. Counting the days til my fill! :cool2:

Dr. Irgau still won't let me drink regular coffee :) but he says Decaf is ok. What's the point of that?!

I stopped drinking coffee the day of my pre-op appointment and I haven't had any since. I still miss it, but not every day like I used to miss it.

Protoccinos (sp?) are sold in the CHRIAS store - they are little bottles of Protein powder (also comes in a lemon razzy) that are supposed to be good for coffee drinkers. At least that's what they told me! I haven't tried it yet. It's been in my pantry.. maybe I will try it tomorrow and report back, Caelyn.

As for the Daily Plate vs. the Realize site.. I just created some of my own foods on the Realize site that I eat every day so it's easier. For now, I'm going to stick with it, because it monitors my fills, my Vitamin intake, my fluids, my pics/progress (very cool), etc. And it offers tips and recipes. So far, another downside is that it's not BlackBerry-compatible, like the Daily Plate website. I think we only have access to the Realize site for a year or two post-op anyway , so when my time expires I'll switch to the Daily Plate.

protoccino - I have tried these and they are not bad, I need to have mine extremely cold to truly enjoy it, and then not the same as a hot cup of coffee.< /span>

It's surprisinf that Dr. Wynn and Dr. Irugau are different in their feelings about drinking coffee!! being in the same office

Hello!

I love the lemon razzy. I think it is wonderful. I don't do coffee....

So, does anyone know when the next lapband support group meeting at St. Francis might be? I think it was this week and I missed it. I wasn't sure if it was next week or this week. Anyway, if you know, let me know!

Good things with the band for the moment. I am really striving to follow the "rules". I have also been trying to view food merely as fuel. It is not as easy as it sounds! The scale is moving, which is nice. I am hoping that it doesn't move too much that I can't get a fill next week. LOL, who would have ever thought I would worry about losing too much!

Well, I just returned from my sleep study. I passed and do not need the return visit. I'm one step closer to my goal. I will say it was pretty uncomfortable sleeping with all those wires attached. I have my 3 lifestyle classes next month and then my clearance examine in September with Dr. Monsert. I also just found out I have jury duty for the month of September here in Easton. Maybe it will help the time fly!!!!

hey everyone,

I happened to be at another doc in the CHRIAS building this morning and so I stopped by the St Francis center to pick up the most current support group schedules.

Band-only group meets the 2nd Tues of the month 6-7:30

Post-op strugglers w/Dr Wynn meets the 2nd Weds of the month 6-7:30

Open group (band + bypass) meets the last Tues of the month (tonight!) 6-7:30

I think I'm going to go to the next band-only group meeting, on 8/12.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the support group information. I could not find my sheet anywhere. I am going to pick one up today as I see Dr. Peters and Sam today. I am really hoping for a fill. I plan to buy their $20 variety pack. I usually do when I get a fill. I think it is a great value. That way I don't have to make sure I have liquids in the house. I still have plenty of Protein powder that I use for the rest of the time, but it is nice not to have to hit the store for the stuff.

Everyone enjoying their summer?

HI everyone!!!

Tomorrow is my 4 month bandiversary! I have an appt with Dr Wynn too. Wish me luck. I am pushing for 50 lbs lost. Now that will be a celebration! I have been struggeling lately. I just cannot get any restriction. I have been watching what I eat and making good decisions. However, the quantity is much higher than usual. I hope that all those problems will be solved tomorrow.

I'll keep you all informed.

How did you do Paulette?

Lisa

Lisa, that salad tonight was 608 calories, 16gms Protein, but then I didn't have that much of the Salad Dressing , so i figure the calorie count is much less than the 608...

my knee is stiff, but am icing it down.

Glad to see everyone advancing in heir journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
