I think I have been mourning food over the last couple of weeks since I decided I was going to do the surgery. I have not restricted myself at all with what I eat and of course I'm hungary all the time because i am eating so much. I just keep thimkingb this will all end soon and I won't be able to do this kind of eating so I'm allowing myself to be glutinous now. It is kind of disgusting me how out of control i am though.

Anyone else going through the eat whatever I want feeling?

Yea, I had a small panic attack pre-surgery, thinking about how I wouldn't be able to eat as much after surgery. And then I had to PIMP SLAP myself and realized how stupid I was thinking. I realized, "Limiting my eating was the whole point of having surgery!" :P

Yes!! I'm hungry now but my surgery is in the morning lol!! I've had broth and Water all day! Please prepare your self mentally. Make healthy choices that's all. We're getting this surgery for a reason because we need help just like any other addiction. Make good choices, it's all about the right choices' I pray this helps

I did have a "last meal" the night before I started my 2-week pre-surgery liver-shrinking diet - went out to my favorite restaurant and ate what I wanted. But I don't necessarily think it's a good idea to just be totally out of control. Changing the way you eat is going to be difficult enough after surgery - you will HAVE to control yourself or you could do serious physical damage.

Believe me, I totally understand your feelings, especially now. Having been through 1000 calories a day for 2 weeks pre-surgery, then 1 day Clear Liquids the day before, NOTHING (including water) the day of surgery, Water only next day, clear liquids for 2 more days, full liquids for 2 weeks, and now having finished week 1 of 3 weeks of soft/pureed foods only, I am dying for something I can really sink my teeth into! But it's well worth it to finally be on the road to losing the weight and keeping it off permanently. And after all, I know eventually I will probably be able to eat most if not all of the things I used to - just a LOT less of them! Patience - it's worth it!

I think a few people have thought this way and I think it is a normal response more so if your a food addict or "dieting" forever lol I am pre op in month 3 of a 6 month program which among other things I have to lose 30lbs with that being said one of my first thoughts was to make a list of all the places I want to eat before the big day but I also started tracking my food on my fitness pal and making better choices. I have had a few days where I'm way over my calories as I check a place off my list but for the most part with each new day of better choices to want for the over eating on fattening foods starts to go away...just do your best each day, don't beat yourself up..good luck :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
