Scared but knew I was doing the right thing. And haven't regretted it since. Good Luck.

I wasn't nervous until I arrived at the hospital. That quickly passed though when I reminded myself that I was doing this for me!! I'm four days postoperative now and having good and bad days. I must say though that I'm starting to feel like a human again!! You will do just fine!! When is your surgery?

A roller coaster of emotions. I went from crying about the surgery to being excited about the opportunity that lies ahead of me, to praying, to threatening to call it off, to having anxiety, to mourning food and the social events I was going to miss out on if I get it, to freaking out about mishaps that could happen before surgery, and more. I had went through the 6 months of seeing a general MD and doing a diet - importantly as you will get the hang of real quick is that this not only physical this is mental too. The mind plays awful tricks. I did go through with the surgery, with the help of prayer, family, and friends. I knew that my weight and addiction to food had spiraled so far out of control and I knew if I backed out this opportunity might not be here next year or whenever I decide to do it again and I also realized my health will only decline from here if I keep on the road I'm on. My surgery day was 2.28.13 - I was so nervous about anesthesia but once I got into pre- op I remember putting an oxygen mask on and that's it. I woke up and I said 'is it all over?' In the OR. I've not experienced any nausea thank God, pain has been about a 2-3 the whole time,I walk, sip fluids, and use an incentive spirometer all day. Vitamins tastes yuckies. I tolerate everything well, just get full very quickly. I'm 21 - 5'9", SW 326 CW 303 - co morbidities - elevated lipids, Hypertension, and PCOS. Good luck! Feeling nervous is completely normal & when in doubt - pray!

Prettylittleheart thank you so much you sound like I feel. I'm just so worried about complications. I know I'm going through with it and I'm really really excited but I can't picture myself slim I've been overweight for so long. I've been praying day and night and will continue to do so

Thanks everyone!

My surgeon did explain to me the probability of getting on the freeway and risking death as opposed to this surgery. He was very comforting and I must say that plays a big factor too. Feeling the way you are feeling is normal. Frankly, just like my surgeon said - I'd be more worried if you weren't worried. This is a big step! I talked to all my friends that I have done it and they say the only regret was waiting as long as they did. Good luck to you!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
