    Pre work outs after surgery?

I have taken numerous different preworkouts since surgery, but i also didn't quit caffeine as my sleeve handled it fine. That being said, n.o. explode makes a very good caffeine free variation. https://www.amazon.com/BSN-XPLODE-Pre-Workout-Supplement-Beta-Alanine/dp/B00KZNOYI6/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1527561673&sr=8-1&keywords=n.o.+explode+caffeine+free

    resetting my sleeve

I am currently doing this. I had my Sleeve back in December of 2012 and had lost around 160 lbs. Unfortunately, I slowly over the years had gained about 100 of that back. So about a month ago I decided it was time to fix myself again. So I started following my post op diet again and then into my regular diet, as it is I have lost around 15 pounds so far in this new round, find i'm not having any difficulty following the old diet plan so far. I guess we will see what happens.
  3. Here is a new before and after pic, the before was taken in the Dr's office at my first appointment, the after( me leaning on my paramedic truck) was taken at a weight loss surgery the dr had last night. before was 379 lbs November 2012, after 220 lbs July 9 2014.
  4. Stalls are quite common and it is well documented that many have there first stall at 1 month out. The best thing to do is to realize if you are following the plan that your Dr. gave you the weight loss will continue, stalls are normally just your body adjusting to the changes it has made. Stick with your plan even though it doesn't seem to be working at the moment, I know this is hard for anyone who experienced the yoyo of dieting prior to surgery, but if you are eating less calories then your body is burning you will lose weight. It is helpful to do measurements because a lot of the time when the scale isn't moving you will find you are losing inches. Good Luck and stay positive.

Post op 1 week and hate lying around

No, for that matter the more you get up and move the easier your recovery should be. A common mistake people make after any surgery is to lay around and expect the body to recover itself. Good Luck.

Should I be able to eat this much?

No, you should stick with your plan that you and your Dr. have set for you. Stalls are usually resulting from your body adjusting and while they are frustrating as hell while they are happening, if you stay the course, when the stall is over you will lose a sizeable amount quickly to make up for it. Also, you might want to track measurements instead of weight for a while because usually when people are "Stalled" they are actually losing inches as their body is transforming fat to muscle at that time. Good Luck, and try to stay positive and enjoy the journey.

    Newbie...

I have never mixed any of my Protein drinks in milk, i always felt milk made them to thick, most of them are fine in Water, for that matter the nutritional facts reported on them don't include the milk so you still get the listed amount of protein when you mix them in water. It does take some time to get enough fluids in without it being a true struggle, this is mostly because of all the swelling inside, the one thing i found that really helped was to drink warm liquids early since the warmth decreases the swelling, also make sure you are up and moving around as much as possible to get all the air out which will also effect how well you can handle fluids. Good Luck.

    Cheated

I truly believe the preop diets have more to do with what the Dr.s believe you need to prepare you for what you have to do post op then anything else, the whole liver thing from what i understand is only effected by like the 1 day prior to surgery.

    Cheated

First things is realize you are human and mistakes will happen, don't get down and especially don't let it convince you to give up. You didn't get to this point over night and you can't fix it overnight. We all had cheats of some sort preop and postop but the important thing is to realize your mistakes and learn from them. Good Luck, and stay positive.

    3 weeks out

Great job on the loss so far. As for the low energy, make sure you are getting enough protein and hydration because those 2 things are the most important for energy at this point. Good Luck.
  11. Yes most of the time in the first couple weeks at least you will feel hungry but it is usually gas pain, try to make sure you are up and moving as much as you can tolerate to get the gas out. It is important to note that you will start feeling real hunger again after several months, but the good thing is by then you can normally have built better habits to take care of it. Good Luck.

    trying to do right!

I think that 90 grams is a little high, i personally when i first had my surgery was shooting for about 60 grams a day for the first couple months. Now the amount of Protein itself won't effect how much you lose but the more protein the more calories, so keep track of the calories and carbs and just make sure you are getting enough protein that you have enough energy to make it through the day, that's how i did it at least but of course everyone is different. Good Luck.

    Question!?!

I believe this occurs because people are making such drastic changes in their lifestyle that it makes it easier to slip something else in without as much effort as it usually would take. I personally focused as much attention as possible into figuring out the best food alternatives and then also focused onto exercise, to fill that gap in my attention span where i would normally think about and eat. As a result some people believe i am now obsessive about healthy food choices and exercising, but hey if you have to obsess might as well be on things that make you healthier. Good Luck.

    3 Days out

This is very common, it is most likely resulting from the swelling inside your esophagus and stomach, the one good piece of advise i can give you is try drinking something warm, the warmth will help reduce the swelling, drinking cold things at this point will be very difficult until the swelling goes down. Good Luck.

    Coffee and caffeine

This is a question that you will hear many different answers to. The different surgeons tend to answer it differently. I will tell you from my personal experience that i started drinking coffee the day after surgery in the hospital and i do mean real coffee not decaf, and have drank it every day since. I have not had any problems with it in any way shape or form. I do drink a lot of water( usually 128 oz a day not including the coffee itself, or Protein shakes). This does not mean it will be true for everyone, as everyone is different, just my personal experience. Good Luck.
  17. O.k. so here is a new chicken recipe. Take a 4 oz chicken breast use a meat tenderizer hammer on it to make it thin and pliable. Take a chunk of Velveeta Queso Blanco cheese roll the chicken over the queso. Crush some corn chips, I use the Clancy's brand chips from Aldi's, coat the outside of the chicken with the corn chips. preheat the oven to 400 degrees, and cook for 20 minutes. The Relevant numbers are calories 184, Carbs 5, Protein 26, Sodium 602, Fat 5. Not sure what to call it but it was definitely good.
  18. Here is a new picture. I had my sleeve on December 10 2012, at that time I weighed 379. Currently 219.

    Protein powder

you might want to check the Body Fortress brand that they sale at Walmart, I have found that it is the best value since it is low calorie, high Protein and only $20 a tub. They come in lots of good flavors, personally I like the chocolate peanutbutter and the Cookies and cream, and you can't beat the convenience of just going to Walmart and pick them up. Good Luck.

    Protein bars

I also like the Quest bars. Also there is one made by Oh Yeah! called the victory bar it has a taffy type consistently and are really good. For the gym you might also want to consider using Protein shakes since they seem to give you a quicker burst then the bars in my opinion. (I use the body fortress brand shakes you can buy them at Walmart and they are high protein, low calorie and only $20 a tub). Good Luck.

Questions for those One Year post-op.

I am 14 months out. Yes I can eat a whole apple. I can eat Pasta without problems but choose not to most of the time. Rice still doesn't feel good. I can drink wine, champagne and beer even but the alcohol does affect me quicker. I can drink Water fast without problem. I don't have any sadness because and will even sit with other people while they eat, but this probably varies greatly depending on your personality.
