January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have to brag - or tell someone because I'm proud of myself. I got out of bed this morning at 5 AM and did my upper body workout. I started the 84 day (12 week) BFL (Body for Life) Challenge today. I tried to talk myself out of getting up this morning - but I didn't. I finally got up and headed to the gym. I had a good workout and feel so good.

I only have 83 more days to go.

Sad note, my scale is refusing to let me get below 190 - GRRRRR. I have had this struggle all my life, I get down to 190 - 195 and just bounce back and forth. I usually get discouraged and give up and eat then go back up to 235. Now that I have the band, I'm hoping it will allow me to get below this mark. I was 192 last week, this morning back up to 195 - damn it. Anyhow, I'm going to stay off the scales the rest of the week, and hopefully by next Monday the scale will drop again. Hopefully my BFL challenge will allow me to break this weight.

I just had to share my exciting news!

Way to go. You are an inspiration to me. You are doing soooo good. I haven't posted in a while, but I have read everyone's post and it seems that everyone is doing well. We went on our cruise for spring break, I only gained 1.5 lbs and had that off within one week.

YEA!!! :clap2:

A week later I got my first fill, 1.5cc (4cc band) on 3-23-07. I was so nervous that I was shaking and my Dr. was concerned, but I made it through just fine. I still have numbness around my port area, so I didn't feel a thing. Unfortunately, I haven't lost one single pound since the fill CRAP. So I decided to work out every day if it kills me. I'm stuck at 176-177 and at time 178.5...GRRRRRR I'm with you on this one. I hate being stuck. I'm hoping the work outs will get the scale moving again. Oh, and another fill on 5-4-07 should help. I can't wait. No PB'ing, or slim'g. I can eat most anything and the Easter candy didn't help at all!

I'm going out of town to Graceland with my son's high school band this weekend, so hopefully I can get a workout in at the hotel.

That is GREAT - to go on vacation and still LOSE weight! Congratulations and it sounds like you had a great vacation. I can't wait until my vacation August 4th (106 days to go and counting!)

Thank you Tonya! It was a great vacation. Where are you going on your vacation in August? It will be here before you know it. Anyway, I want to congratulate you on your weight loss. You are doing AWESOME!:clap2: Good for you! Also, how are you doing after your second fill? Talk to you soon-Gigi:)

Dee - thanks so much! And ONLY 1.5 gain on a cruise! You rock! And with no fill? Wow! You know the average weight gain for a 7 day cruise is 10 lbs, so you did great.

I was nervous too on my first fill, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. I know how frustrating it is to be stuck at a weight, I'm stuck in the 190's - I want out so bad! I haven't been below 190 in over 10 years, I think about 14 years.

Thanks so much Gigi! We are going on a 7 day Western Carribean cruise, my family (DH, son, daughter) and my DH's sister & brother in law, and mother, so its a family trip. We usually cruise 1 x per year. This will be interesting to see how I do with the band and cruising.

My 2nd fill was really tight in the beginning, but it has loosened up and I am having no problems. I actually seem to have bigger problems with liquids than I do food, I think I take too big of drinks, but working on that.

I called my doctor's office on yesterday to get my first fill. I need it now!! I'm not gaining, but I have very little restriction now. I'm not having any more problems, (thank you Lord) so I need a fill. I have 6 days to meet my goal of 10 pounds this month and I have 5 pounds to go!!! I have 4 pounds to be in 1derland!!!! So I need a FILL, until then I am going to "try" liquids for a few days :nervous .

Sheila! You are doing fantastic, too! I'm sure your fill will go well, too.

You know, I'm starting to feel this 2nd fill. It's been a week now. I see, what people say about them possibly getting tighter as you go. Although, I am getting closer to the fun part of the month for me. Who knows, maybe this fill will be okay for a while.

Oh, and Tonya, I'm going on a cruise, too. Mine is with family, also. We're following up our family reunion, which is in the backwoods of Georgia...LOL..with a four day cruise to the Bahamas. Several of my relatives - besides the immediate ones - are going...Uncles, Aunts, cousins, etc... I can't wait for mine either. What I want to do is plan a 7 day cruise. I do a lot of traveling, and I've quickly realized that cruising is one of the best ways you can spend your vacation time.

WOW, I just notice your 55 lb loss! Man, you are doing so good! I need some new motivation. Maybe I will do the pre-op diet again for a few days? I need a jump start. That's why I started to exercise everyday. Speaking of exercise, time to go to it now before I get to tired. I work nights, so this is my evening time. The power went out and just came back on, so I must go do my exercise video! GRRRRR Oh we:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: ll, I will feel better after I finish!

I love cruises - this will be my 10th one, and I've already planning one for 2008, we're just trying to decide if we are going to do the Hawaii cruise or the Eastern/Southern Carribean cruise. Once we decide that, I'll book one. I have found the best place and best prices are on cruisecompete.com. I booked my last cruise thru them and got it about $100 cheaper than anyone else, I called CArnival and they said they couldn't even match that price. I asked them how they can give me such a good price when Carnival coudn't, they said because they were a cruise broker and not a travel agent and could give discounts for port charges, etc. Anyhow, I think you get the best food, and can see a lot more for your money with a cruise. Thats my opinion anyhow.

You started out a lower BMI than I did, so I am apt to lose weight faster (I was fatter - lol) But i know what you mean about being stuck and needing some mojo, I started the BFL challenge and was on the website looking at before & after pictures and it really got me motivated to do some serious exercises/training. I'm on day 2 of 84! I'm also trying to cut out the bite here and the bite there syndrome I'm going thru. I seem to nibble a lot and I catch myself doing it. I gotta get out of the 190's or I'll go CRAZY.

You go girl, go and shake your thang to the exercise video! Remember too, that sometimes when you pump up the exercise, your body stalls for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden, you will have a drop in weight, its happened to me on several occasions.

Just stay focusses & determined and you'll get there, we all will :clap2:

I'm a brave soul...and very cautious to post this...I was one of the first for the month and went into a hault on w-loss for about 4.5 wks. I didn't loose an oz. However I went for my fill yesterday and now I'm ready to get back on track. The Pic's posted (I hope) are from 1 Jan and 24 Apr...Seeing yourself everyday in the mirror, you don't really see it. I was really surprised!

Hey everyone.....looks like everyone is doing great!! I too have had a stall in weight loss. Was banded on January 18 and am down 44 pounds...nothing for the last 2.5 weeks though!! Went for my 3rd fill yesterday and got stuck in traffic for a little over 30 minutes, made me late for the appointment so they canceled it. Takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get there on a good day so I left early and was still late! Anyway I was able to get it rescheduled for tomorrow (wednesday) and can hardly wait to get this losing jump started again!

Keep up with the pictures and stories, I love to read and see how everyone is doing! One of these days I'll take the time to post pictures of my own....

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
