January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Hello January Bandsters..Just found your thread and decided to say Hello and ask to be added to your list..My surgery date is january 26th:clap2: and i'm very excited but also nervous...I've read many of your postings and have taken a little of each one to prepare myself for what is to come...I know everyones experience is different but having so much support is AWESOME! My surgeon is Dr. Viriato Fiallo in Springfield, MA. It only took 2 WEEKS after all my pre op appointments to get it approved (Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA)..I'm very excited and can't wait to get this show on the road!!! Keep me in your prayers as i will keep you all in mine!!! God Bless:pray2:

I was posting in another thread before I got my date, which turns out to be January 3rd. They are all being banded in December. I felt shunned! jk Wanted to see who else was in my boat? The "too-greedy-to-give-up-the-holidays-before-banding" boat.

Here's a list of January Bandsters. Let us know if we've missed anybody!

I've been up and about most of the day. Went to Wal-Mart with DH to buy a few things. I bought some liquid tylenol so I would have to take the liquid hydrcodone. I don't like the stuff the Dr prescribed because it makes me feel groggy and a little sick to my stomach. The liquid Tylenol helped alot. My tummy feels like I've done about 500 situps, but other than that, everythings going well. I was able to drink a Creamy chicken Soup at Hand today, and have continued to drink Water. Trying to focus on healing first, and can work on the weight loss with the band later. Hope everyone is feeling better, and let's keep those that are getting banded today and tomorrow in our prayers!

Well, it's 3am and if I stay in bed another minute I think I'm going to cry. My back hurts from sleeping so much, even though I've been getting up every hour or so to walk. Can't seem to get anything down but tiny sips of Water. For my 1st day of banding I consumed 6oz V-8 juice and about 1 1/2 pint of water. I'm taking baby sips of a chocolate low-carb slimfast now. Don't have the foggiest clue how much my tummy will hold, but I'll figure that out. I got the 10cc Vanguard band, so I'm going to do some reserach on it so I can become familiar with it. So far, no pain, just a bit tender, and best of all . . . no GAS. I'm sure it will show itself, but just not yet, and I'm gonna enjoy it.

I am glad to hear you are doing so well!!!! Audree

I couldn't sleep the night before either! I fell asleep at midnight and then woke up every 2 hours after that!!! I am post op day 6 and doing great! I wen't walking around twice today for over an hour. I didn't get to get to many calories in today since I was out, so like 520 calories.

I am super restricted and couldn't get too much creamy split pea Soup.

I still have not weighed in!!!

I am so tired, probably due to such low calories and all the walking.

I am going to bed early again tonight. Good night band sisters!!! Audree

Hi! It's 3 A.m. On Friday Morning And I'm At Work, Spent The Last Few Hours Catching Up On The Post I've Missed. I Went In For My Pre Admission Paper Work Yesterday And Met With The Anethesialogist. I Call This Evening To Find Out What Time I Have To Be At The Hospital Monday! Told The Dr. When I Met With Him Today I Can't Believe I'm So Excited About Someone Stabbing Holes In Me, But I Can Hardly Wait!!! Went And Bought A New Bicycle Yesterday Too, Decided That Is Going To Be A Big Part Of My Exercise Routine.

Angyl, please add my name to the list. I'm getting banded in about 6 hours!!! (1/12/07 @ 11:45AM). I'm having trouble going to bed as I just don't seem to be sleepy for some reason! I've been puttering around the house getting things all set for my return home on Saturday. Thanks again to all for the great advice getting ready for this. Wish me good luck! I'll post again as soon as I'm up to it

I get banded in the morning at 9:30!! I can't wait. I didn't have to do anything to get ready except a "modified" Atkins diet. They want me to drink 2 large glasses of Water before I go to bed. It's not like I'll sleep anyway!:clap2: I'm loving the countdown!

Carole

Carole...

I read on another thread that you're being banded by Dr. Marsden. I just wanted to tell you how much I love that guy! I've known Dr. John for about 20 years. I lived in North Texas for years and his office was one of my clients at an answering service I owned. If I still lived up there I'd have him band me in a second! I even started to go up there to let him do my surgery because I know what a wonderful doctor he is. If you have any problems with your surgery he'll be right there for you. I can't say enough about what a caring and compassionate surgeon he is.

Good luck with your surgery today!

Add me to the list! Surgery was January 8, and so far I'm doing pretty good. I'm a little sore still, taking Gas-x and walking as much as possible. Glad to join all of you!

Just wanted to add my only pre-op diet was to restrict red meat, Pasta and carbs for a week before surgery. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight day of surgery. That's it.

Post surgery I haven't had any problems with liquids. Starting the mushies today.

Peace and blessings to all.

lol omg you're so smart for not having weighed in. As opposed to me and my obssessive self weighing in all the time. Now that the scale has stopped moving, I just attribute it to the fact that it's broken lol.

Did you try the frozen carnation thing? I love it, but it gives me horrible gas every day. Gotta figure out how to prevent that from happening. Maybe Beano? Gas-x is for after the fact, I need something preemptive. Suggestions?

Yeah I did and it was GOOD!!! I just stuck it in the freezer for about 1 hour and shook it! I loved it. Yeah, you can probably add beano to it or I use Silk Soy milk vanilla and it tastes really good. Soy milk doesn't give gas.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
