Has anyone have moments where they just gag!

Recommended Posts

I also agree with the smells. The other day I added some unjury unflavored Protein to Soup and the smell was making me sick. I got it all mixed in, took a bite and gagged violently. It tasted like it smelled. Nasty!

I also tried the opurity Vitamins and they taste so bad mostly cause they smell bad. Just thinking about taking them makes me sick. Ugh!

What a strange journey this is!

It does get better, I was sleeved November 20, and there were some days that I didn't think I could tolerate another Protein shake (I still use them to supplement). There is no way I can get 80-100 grams of Protein in a day without them.

This may be TMI, but I had problems with gagging while I was having a bowel movement for about 4 weeks, it was very strange and scary. This was the closest to "slimming" I have done, and it was awful. Eeeewwwwwww!

I take the Opurity Vitamins and it's all I can do the actually put them in my mouth. While I'm chewing those honking suckers I hold my breath..... They were making me nauseous too. I am now splitting them and taking half in the morning and half before bed. That has helped reduce the nausea.

They are Vitamins specifically formulated for weight loss surgery patients. They have a specific formula for sleeve patients. I'm sure the formula is perfect and high quality....I just wish they'd put more research into making them

tolerable.... :)

Good call on splitting them in half. Maybe I'll try that!

For those times when I'm feeling that way I eat a pickle spear (5 calories) or two. There is something about the salt.

I used to be a big coffee drinker... Had to have my minimum in the morning to start my day... It doesn't make me sick' date=' but I no longer care for the taste. I have taken to having a cup of English Breakfast Tea every morning... I was never a big fan of beef, but now the smell turns my stomach. And ALL of the Protein shakes I had pre surgery are sickeningly sweet now... Weird.[/quote']

Me too! I used to be a coffee junkie..now not so much but now I love tea..any kind of tea..hot or cold. I never liked tea before. I hate Protein Shakes now too..no matter what flavor..can't stand them. As for smells..I can smell bad breath a mile away and I'm totally disgusted. There is a coworker that uses garlic pills..its taking all I got not to barf

I freaked last month and thought I was pregnant (my period was 1 day 'late') because of of crazy my sense of smell is. I have an IUD- so I knew it was highly unlikely- but that is how high the smell to gag ratio was. It has mellowed some this month, but every now and then something will catch me off guard. I have a super stronger stomach, but man oh man apparently not much anymore. The very smell of Protein Powder is enough to make me dry heave.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
