Texarkana Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Sugarbear. I know exactly how you feel. I'm sure there are other bandsters out there that feel the same way too. Just hang in there and when it gets down to surgery day, you will be so prepared, it will be a breeze. I have a little advice. If you haven't started walking or doing some type of exercise, start today. It will help on surgery day. Your body will be in better shape to handle the stress of the surgery. It will help you when your nurse tells you that you need to get up and start walking as soon as possible.

Vlynn, thanks for noticing bout the weight. I have been starving the last few days. I am looking forward to the 5th. I hope that first fill goes a long way.

Talk to yall later, k?

Hello Blondylocks and welcome to the Texarkana Bandsters and non-Bandsters. I haven't been banded yet either. My surgery date is 3-7. I have completed all the pre-op with the exception of the pre-op diet, Start that the 21st. When I talked with them at PS, they had had only one erosion. I am not sure about the slippages. It is my understanding you can avoid slippage if you follow the rules of the band. Of course if you got a virus and had profuse vomiting and it slipped, that couldn't be helped. I am not sure about this thread but there are plenty of bandsters that have had their band for a long time without trouble. Of course there are plenty that have had trouble too. I haven't come across any from the team in Texarkana that have had habitual trouble. Just have to have some faith I guess. Congrats on your upcomming marriage! I hope everything goes well for you, Keep us posted on your progress for surgery. Let us know when you get your date. They only do surgery on Wed. and Fri. (Lapband).

Good Luck!!

Blondylocks, I forgot to mention that they have support meetings you may attend even before you get banded. So you may want to visit one of those before being banded where you can ask more questions on that subject. Someone told me the unbanded were invited also. PS or a bandster could tell you when they are. Hope this helps.

Hello to all. I think it's great that we have so many people supporting each other on this board.

Since one of our patients suggested that we establish some sort of feedback on our website, I just added a new feature.

I just added a blog to our home page at www.noscales.com

Just go to the website and click on the 'blog' button at the bottom of the screen.

Every few days I'll try to have myself, Dr Keilin, Betty, Amy, Tammy, Deb, Angie, or Jamie from our office post some thoughts.

The best part is people can add comments! On the bottom of each blog entry is a button marked 'comments'. (It currently reads '0 comments') You can press that button and leave your own thoughts if you like and comments can be anonymous.

Let me know what you think about this new feature, and also what topics you would want to hear more about.

Hi Blondlocks. Welcome aboard. I haven't had my band long, and I haven't had any problems, but you can check out the other posts on this site. It might help with the information you are looking for. You can also check out the web site in Dr. Hekier's post and you can find out the information bout the seminars and meetings that sugarbear was telling you about. I was considering RNY, but I went to one of the seminars that was held in Mt. Pleasant and decided that the band would be a better choice for me. So, I figure I must be a big advocate of the seminars. Very informative. And you can ask as many questions that your little heart desires. Anyway, welcome aboard and congratulations on the wedding!

Hello to all...have been banded 5 weeks now (down 32 lbs) and am enjoying everyday that I get up and get dressed and my clothes (the ones that had gotten to be too small) are starting to be too big now...its a great feeling and makes the hard work worth it...also enjoying people noticing that something looks different about me...Went to my first support mtg last week...great experience...to meet new people and to share ideas and experiences...you really can learn from your peers...Sugarbear...glad to hear you are progressing in getting your surgery done...I thought the pre-op diet was the hardest because you can't have anything, and you know you still could if you wanted it because you don't have the band yet...its like holding a piece of steak in front of dog...just keep in mind the goal..."surgery day"...Welcome to you blondylocks...hope to hear you are getting to "surgery day" soon...this is a great group of people to get advice from...Hello Lisa...hope all is well with you too...Sorry I don't get to keep in touch very often, by the time I get home from school, and do all my "MOM & WIFE" jobs, it's late and I just don't get the chance to get on...If I have missed anyone, Hello!!! Great to see Dr. Hekier responding...that is neat to know that our doctors are keeping up with us, too.

In response to an earlier reply about the number of slippages that PS has had...I got my first fill last week and had asked Dr. Keilin questions about being worried about the possiblity of slippage...(after reading about so many on this website)...and she said they had only had 3 cases...I don't know exactly how many of these they have done, but I know it is A LOT, so that is a pretty small number to me...It took away some of the concern anyway that I was having myself...she also said that if there were to be a slippage occur...you will know it...sounded pretty definite, too...

Just check with PS about your next step. You don't have to wait and do one thing at a time. I am going to call next week and be sure about the pre-op diet. I left there the other day and forgot to ask one thing about it, other than getting my date to start it. I have heard a few things about having fat-free things along with the Slimfast-Optima. Not sure about that. I will just call Mon. and ask.

Have you gone for a phych evaluation ? If you have to have one, PS will make the appt. for you.

Hello Wannabethin. I got an email notification where you posted but I can't seem to find the post.? Anyway I am glad you are doing well and things went fine. I wish I was as far along as you. March will be here before I know it... Take care and keep us posted. As I said before, everyone appreciates all experiences shared, big or small. It helps us to-be-bandsters know what we might expect. Congrats on the surgery!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
