Uh, what a morning. I've been doing so well, but a crisis with a pet this morning broke the emotional dam. I didn't know I had so much to cry about. Worry for my cat and then I sobbed so hard I cried more worrying I was going to do damage to my new tummy with all those muscles in action.

Another shout out to my wonderful surgeon's staff, LoraLee, for being available on a Sunday morning and helping me strategize calming down. Between her and all the support here, I am sure this a blip on the radar!

I was warned about the ten day phenomenon. Glad to know I am text book ( or nearly!).

Nothing like a good cry to let out all the angst that has built up in you..... Hope your cat is going to be ok. Your cat is a member of your family and it's very painful to have them sick of to have to lose them in any way...... It's ok to cry, it's healing for us... Thank you for sharing this.... ;)

Hi measureofme, can you please tell me what the ten day phenomenon is? I am having my surgery in March. Thank you.

I have read many times and was warned by my coordinator that at about ten days from surgery the emotions can kind of catch up with you... You're feeling better but still tired, hormones running rampant can mess with you, stuff like this. I was just caught by surprise because it didn't creep up over time, just all of a sudden.

I suppose it is anecdotal observation, not a hard rule of what to expect.

I was a victim of the 10 day phenomenon too!! Actually, I am more hormonal and emotional now than I ever was before the surgery..... don't worry girl, it is all part of the process, and all for the greater good!!!!

I broke yesterday when they told me i could go home. the whole thing had just been too much. They usually keep sleeves 2 days. I expected to leave around Thursday night or friday morning. When that came and went, I just didn't have any ideas. From the boredom and fear and pain, I just started sobbing catching my totally off guard from all of it.

I look back and wonder if I just controlled any unpleasant emotions with the food and now that I dont have it, it comes out in tears.

Juny: you are probably on to something there if you we're an emotional eater. I worked on this fact a lot in my counseling sessions leading up to surgery. It is a new behavior for sure after the sleeve.

I had no idea about the ten day phenomenon! I just read this post via your profile after you posted a reply to my emotional topic. Lo and behold... it's been ten days. Very interesting.

I was pretty surprised how right she was. But also a little peeved at how right she was... It does not seem fair! LOL

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
