A thread for Single Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this thread but here goes...

I'll be banded on Nov 2, getting really excited =) I'm 21, highest weight ever was when i was 18 and 272lbs. I lost 80lbs and during that time met someone and got engaged a year later. Anyways, I broke that off about a year ago and managed to gain back almost all of the weight I lost while I was living with him. Go me! I notice a huge difference in how much I get hit on now as opposed to when I had lost that weight. I was still heavy, but I carried my weight well. It gives me motivation but is also quite sad when I think back to 2 years ago and how amazing I felt and how much attention I recieved from men. It's strange, but it seems now men only want me for sex? lol Makes no sense. Whereas when I had lost the weight I met better quality guys (the sleezy kind mixed in of course). Anyways, as of right now I have given up on men and am concentrating on loving myself and making myself happy. If Mr. Right comes along, great, but Im not worrying about that right now.

Chrispy I am so happy for you. You can just keep telling him that you watch your weight carefully and bread is fattening, until you're ready to tell him about the band.

Missy, I hear ya about it gets lonely.

April, I hope you have found someone that can be there with you for your surgery and bring you home.

I was really happy because E Harmony sent me someone I was really interested in. We sent our questions back and forth a few times, then yesterday I get a message that he closed contact.

He used the reason that he's just too busy in his life right now, but I find that hard to believe.

I so want to lose the rest of my weight. My birthday was last thurs. I had some fill taken out a couple of weeks ago because I was so limited as to what I could eat. Now I am back to being able to eat whatever I want. I have gone out to dinner so much between my kids and my friends wanting to take me to birthday dinner, that I have gained 4 lbs.

It's such a fine line between being too tight, and so loose that I can eat anything, bread included. :(

I guess there's no better time to join this thread...I've been single for over a year and have recently gotten back into the dating scene. I've been on a few dates the past month...but both have been with my ex. lol He moved when we were dating last time, and I refused to do the long distance thing. He's back in town...and we've been talking/hanging out since! It's fun...who knows where it's gonna go tho. My options are still open for others...lol

Lizzie, that's a great attitude to have! That's how I was too, I just focused on bettering myself and filling my life with things that make me happy. I have a good life, with or without a guy, and that's what I am most proud of.

Welcome Kimmie - glad you piped in. Welcome!

Denise, it is tough finding the right fill level. Sometimes I wish I had more and then other times I think I couldn't handle any more than what I have. I'm a the point though where I know that in order for me to lose what I have left to lose, I need to watch what I eat and exercise. It stinks, but it's just he way it is for me I suppose.

So I have another date for Wednesday night. ;) We're going to pass out Halloween candy and watch a scary movie. Should be fun!

Thanks Chrispygal. I find that I meet the best men when I'm not looking anyway. Most people seem to feel that way. Good luck on your next date =)

Anyways met for pizza which I could barely eat any of. Of course it got stuck. Then we made out in the parking lot like teenagers..LOL. The whole time band was driving me nuts..loll.. Anyways..the man is a cutie and can kiss goooddddd! He wanted to come over to my place on Sunday but I said no..not ready to get my kid involved with him yet. He seemed very understanding. Way to go Dibaby! You to Chrispy. I had such high hopes with the guy I was communicating with on E harmony. I was very disappointed that he closed the communication. We seemed like we would have been a very good fit. It's very disappointing. I want to lose 15 more lbs and then I am sure I will have more confidence.

I need to stay on track and get that last 15 off as soon as possible. I have been at 160 since the beginning of Sept. I think I need a fill, but I think I can do it with willpower.

Congrats to both of you, and to JC too.

(of course, if too many people do well this thread will die :boink:)

I checked out that plenty-of-fish site, the UI is way to weird for me.

Sorry, I'm a geek by trade. UI == User Interface. In other words, I don't like how the site is laid out and how it seems to function. Just my opinion, of course.

Manatee, I think plenty of fish is very user friendly. I really like to read the forums. There are some great conversations that go on there.

Ok, online dating guru type folks. Forgive me for being clueless, but I haven't dated in a decade.

I got a wink or whatthehellever it is from someone. I can tell by the profile that we'll never click (I don't want to raise kids, period), but I don't want to be rude. Is it better to tell her up front that it's a deal killer? I just don't know the etiquette. I can't just ignore it, because the site has some sort of built in tracker that tells the other folk that you read the email.

(I hate all this, BTW)

Thanks

I'd say just be honest. She'll appreciate that and it would be more hurtful if you didn't reply or didn't tell her upfront that you're not interested. She'll wink at other people and move on. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
