I got my letter of approval after my surgery. I think that as long as you keep bugging it will be fine.

Good Luck!

After your surgery? How did that happen? My doc won't even set the 26th in stone not ill we know about insurance.. My bmi is 44 but I don't have any of the other issues like high blood pressure or sleep disorder.. I'm just freaking out here..lol

some places take longer than others..... my sister took only 3 days my friend took a month. I wouldnt do surgery untill I had the approval, you never know what if they throw a wrench to your plans... good luck keep bugging them !!

Oh I'm bugging them! Lol..I'm just afraid if I bug them to much they will push it further and further away .. It's like a catch 22.. I guess I just want this so bad that I'm scared that it won't go through for me because I have crappy luck!

I have Cigna and it took me 5 weeks to get my letter of approval. I had a high starting BMI without any co-morbidities, but they still approved me. Good luck with your surgery journey! I promise that it is worth all of the frustration :)

After the letter of medical necessity from my PCP my surgeon took a verbal from the insurance company because it was part of my insurance policy. I think each dr is different my BMI was 44 with no other problems.

Getting nervous over here too! Happy I stumbled into this website and thread... so I know I'm not alone! It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow that my doctors office submitted to insurance; wish I'd hear something! It's all I think about! Should I call BCBS Ohio? Should I call the drs office? Wait it out? I don't want to be a pain... but... thinking I'll probably place a call today..

I would for sure take the initiative and call. You are having the surgery and you are paying the premiums. Had I not continually called I would have never known that, the office sent my claim to BCBS of Texas and not BCBS of CA. Be proactive not reactive. :)

Thanks Just1girl. Called BCBS Ohio and my authorization is still pending nurses review. Darn it! They received it on 1/25 and have up to 15 days to review.... I'm guessing that is business days? This waiting is driving me crazy! And in the meantime I'm getting further and further away from following the nutritionists guidance. Our visits were over a month ago!

Yeah hats my bmi to, and I don't have any other problems so maybe ill get lucky

I know how you feel. Having to start the waiting game all over because of the coordinator screwed up BURNS!! But at least things are still rolling along. The waiting has driving me insane, I am normally a pretty calm and patient person, with this process I am a screaming lunatic!!
